Oh, how well I remember those days...but my barracudas were all the male trumpet players wanting to sit first chair in every ensemble or orchestra...we used to call them "hot dogs"...ha-ha...thanks for those sweet memories your words evoked.!
"In his wildest dreams he had thought perhaps he might one day seek out some poor, unattractive woman with no prospect, who would see him as a reasonable alternative to starvation...No, thoughts such as those had been repulsive and fleeting, only to be dredged up in his lowest moments of misery." ...such a sad way for Erik to view himself, as if that was ALL he had to offer someone.

Amir is always jumping to conclusions (sounds like a Phantom I know) before he hears the whole story...though in this case he is justified since his motive is to protect Christine...but such a plot twist!

Once again another plot twist...I was sure those "male species" were going to try something even more sinister on little Erik! I watched TV in the 70s & 80s and I have no idea where your idea came from. I must've been watching too many episodes of the Brady Bunch!

Once again you threw in a wonderful plot twist I did NOT see coming. It's good in the fact that maybe she can learn to care for him without the distraction of his face. It was such an impediment in the movie even though Erik is drop-dead gorgeous with or without his mask!

I love the fact that Erik was forced to kill because he was forced to be a drug addict. That fact alone keeps many from considering Erik as a hero or a worthy romantic love interest!
Can't wait to find out what happens to that "dead" body!
