The start of new beginnings really are the best medicine but at some time in a persons future they need to return and confront...confirm that they have moved beyond the old memories and by a new location, new life alteration to their own mental projection of a stronger self, they must confront that old location and old life.
Robin's ending is only his new beginning - which should hold promise of a good start at least. Because it's on his own terms.
An abrupt ending but not everything has to always be happy ever after.
This one holds "Hope" at the ending.
For Robin made the choice and didn't cave to Slade, or his Team (there was no power given up, or self sacrifice made) he did good.
Thanks for sharing this tale, sometimes we need reminders of the deeper darker parts of human behavior.

Honestly I liked the ending, it was realistic instead of the rapist lives happily ever after with his victim.

Poor bird, wonder what will happen.
Recovering from Stockholm Syndrom might take a while thourh... maybe a violent outburst to get his master back to normal?
