Wow... I kind of want to slap Bella across the face for spreading rumours about Edward like that. What a bitch. Now I'm kind of hoping they don't get back together, why would he want to be with her after she said nasty stuff... and especially about his sister whom she KNOWS he didn't even want to tell her about. I'm going to guess from this chapter that Edward had a sister who died or ran away and that is why 1) Bella is very similar and 2) The family needs a new start. This would also explain why Carlisle hates her - he doesn't like the reminder.

Also, I know this is the prologue, but the prologue always gave me the impression that E and B were in love, and they're not because neither of them seem very into each other. They literally act like friends
