That was quite the fierce battle. Kagato really must be regretting letting Heero live in the White Coven. Because now not only Heero has achieved the same number of Light Hawk Wings as him, but he lowered his guard enough for Yosho to force his fight to a draw. By the way, I recognize Yosho's desperate tactics from the Jin vs Kariya fight in Samurai Champloo.

"You're confusing peace with terror" / "We have to start somewhere." Krennic's words from Star Wars sounded really fitting for Kagato here.

Tsunami's succesful merging with Heero when Tokimi's with Kagato failed shouldn't have surprised those who know Heero well. Since the beginning, Heero never had much of a sense of 'self', as he had very little regard for his own life, seeing himself more as a weapon than a human being. Of course, that changed during the events of GW and then with Ryoko and the girls, but he still could easily give himself up if it meant to save those he cares about. Naturally someone as egomaniac as Kagato could never do that.

"Their mismatched green and blue eyes swept over Heero's group in an instant. Heero would've recognized the hungry looks in their eyes anywhere. They were thirsting for battle." Based on the comments the assassin twins made during their respective fights, I imagine they were quite lusting after Duo and Quatre (in the same way Ragyo was lusting after Heero). And Ayeka could see that too, hence her timely intervention first in Quatre's battle, then Duo's. If Hilde was with them, surely she'd have intervened in Duo's fight too.

"Did you yourself not tell us more than once that my brother must be properly tested against his rival candidate? That he must prove his right to rule decisively?" So Ragyo does have some sense of honor and fair play, despite how insane as she can be. And she got a point here; Tokimi seems to be contradicting herself. If the whole point of this war was to test her candidate against Washu and Tsunami's on who should be the 'Chosen One', then it'd have been pointless if Heero was killed not by Kagato's hand. Washu's right; after what Tokimi surely has witnessed in the battle, she still must be supporting Kagato more of out pride and stubbornness than real belief.

I really thought Yosho was going to sacrifice himself in this chapter. But it seems he managed to survive... for now. Is he going to make it in the end? Hope you update it soon!

Hi there, I know it's been a while sense you made another chapter but still you make such great work of art, and I am hoping to read another chapter of this really great story soon please.

Kind of humbling for Heero to go into shock over Yosho. It seems kind background but he is the only blood family from earth he has. Even with the royal family thing and how new their bond is for him to mean that much to him really drives home the fact Yosho is his only connection to his mother. Someone he never met but deep down wishes he could've met.

Buddy, I played Armored Core 6 as well and I wasn't able to beat Ibis too until they nerfed the damn thing so it won't be as much as a problem

Well, I put the song just as you said, and boy, does it definitely fit for the battle. It actually lasted more or less the entirety of the scene until the end point mark, but it definitely made it even more enjoyable. Maybe I'll try out Armored Core when I get some free time, if only to hear that kind of soundtrack.

Aside from that, wow, this truly feels like we're entering the final stretch of the story. The stakes are higher, and finally Heero gets a power up that lets him get the upper hand enough to make them fear for their lives (or in Ragyo's case, get even more excited). But I knew I wasn't going to last much, and it took a toll on him. At least now we know what sets Heero apart from Kagato, and Yosho is right: it's time to entrust the future to the next generation. You almost got me there: for a moment I thought Yosho was about to pull an Obi-Wan and let himself get killed, but thankfully he survived. Although Kagato did too, that doesn't actually surprise me since the story is still ongoing, and there's no way his plot armor will run out until the final act. Though in this case, Yosho's definitely out of commission and it'll be up to Heero to finish the task. Perhaps those wounds will either give Heero some time to strenghen himself, or afflict Kagato when they inevitably duel each other. Either way, he has to go down, and I'm taking any small victory the heroes can get.

And speaking of small victories, I hope there was an interference in the wireless data transmision. Anything that throws a wrench on their plans will help. Any small but essential missing file to stop them or at least slow them down, or maybe a little present to sabotage them, like a virus, anything.

I guess that pretty much wraps up this chapter. The title in the preview makes me suspect the next one will probaby be the last respite before the final battle. Can't wait to see where this goes, as well as hoping for answer from Washu. As always, great chapter, until next time, keep up the good work.

The action started for good and on more than one battleground. Space warfare is where the Gundam pilots shine (and where the bulk of this war will be fought), but it's the ground fights that I consider the most interesting part, for it's where Heero's group needs to rely on their own physical skills without the protection of ship shields.

"The only 'warm relations' you want to facilitate are the ones between you and Quatre in the bedroom." / "It can be both!" LOL I love Washu's bluntness in these affairs. And how Ayeka doesn't bother to deny it. It just shows how she's grown confident enough to assume her own feelings, when her old self would have been gone ballistic at someone suggesting she's taking a paramour.

The new, shield-bearing bipedal drones were based on the T-800 Terminators, right? And it fits that Duo is the savvy one when it comes to videogame references, but Trowa recognizing them (and Washu not, considering how excited she was about Earth culture when she stayed with Heero) surprised me...

The cliffhanger for the most expected combat at the end... and I fear for Yosho's fate if he and Kagato are talking about 'final dance' and 'final lesson'. Hope you update it soon!

Never played either of those games, but I'll take your word for it that they must have traumatized you, for Duo to make those references.
Jokes aside, the space battle was so intense, I actually played Last Impression in the background as I read it, feeling I was playing a particularly tough map in Super Robot Wars. It helped me get more immersed in it, and it felt appropriate. And even that doesn't hold a candle to the ground battle once they get inside. A minute of silence for the poor marines who got vaporized, their sacrifice will be remembered. The stakes continue to increase as we approach the climax of this story.
I found particularly interesting how Yosho says that, even in Tokimi gave Kagato a push, it all comes down to his own choices. He could have used his power for good instead of becoming a ruthless conqueror who's not afraid to use a weapon of mass destruction to wipe out everything and everyone who opposes him, and he needs to be stopped. By contrast, Heero is barely tapping into his own potential, but he's not allowing his fast progress to get to his head, and he keeps focused on using it to protect others instead of dominating them. The fate of the universe hinges on the results of their battle.
Oho, with that last preview, I get the feeling Heero is due for his next major leap in power, with the help of a friend in a high place. I'll be looking forward to seeing it. Great chapter as always, take care and keep up the good work.

Ok... Somebody grab the seditive. Op needs a little nap. But other than you working through your PTSD in ways that trigger my own I am NOT liking the foreshadowing for Yosho. Knowing you, at least, I hope I have a decent grasp after all the time we've talked. I can see you killing him and that would suck. For many, many reasons. Not saying don't do it. Just that it would hurt.

I have to ask. Will the five Gundams make a full on appearance? Like would Washu rebuild them, better than ever? Knowing her, she would secretly do that to increase their odds.

Feels weird not seeing Gundams in the present than in a recording of the past.

Also, is Zechs Marquise dead here or just M.I.A? If the latter, would he know that the Gundam Pilots are currently off world now?

I wonder how Washu would react to the ZERO system.
Cause that OS is fockin complex and semi weird-odd.
The needs of both Emotion and Logic
