Aw... He'd probably love to claim the fourth side of the kotatsu, happily curled up reading because he doesn't have paperwork anymore, being old enough to be retired and all, and free to bask in the calm presence of his pack in peace. Though, given where they live and that our trio is apparently in their fifties, I guess it's not unreasonable to assume they were implying he's dead by now... :(
