I discovered this story on AO3 and came over here to drop a comment. There should be more reviews on this, since it's a well-written piece and features a relationship that most other writers in the Airwolf fandom haven't considered. The distinction between the position of Archangel and the man Michael is quite striking.

Caeria and deb,
Apologies for failing to chime in until I'm already halfway through this delicious literary snack, but let that be a testament to the magnetizing nature of the text. I'm having to actively distract myself from reading throughout the day simply because I don't want the story to come to an end. Thankfully when that happens I will be able to go back for a second, third, fourth and fifth dip into the world of Pet Project. Your words are a gift not to be taken for granted. And I miss Lil Sev.
PS -
Has there ever been a character more alluring than Michael? You have tapped into the archetype of a man that somehow manages to fulfill our wildest fantasies, while somehow remaining gloriously human. In these truly troubled times that we are living in, C&M's bond restores hope to my soul - and surely to other readers' souls as well. If their love is true, it can surely heal the world. That being said (written), if these two do not end up together then you can expect a strongly worded post after Chapter 17.

Interesting story. I found it amusing that you noted that there wasn't a great deal of fan fiction pairing Michael and Caitlin. I think that's because in all honesty, it just really isn't plausible. Now, in the show, we really didn't see a hell of a lot of character development, which is unfortunate IMHO. Today, it's expected. In the 80's, not so much. You mentioned in your AN that you aren't a fan of the pairing of Michael and Marella. But that ignores a lot of what we did see on screen. They worked closely together, clearly for some time. They have a common experience, namely Red Star. Also, if you watch the episodes closely, Marella gets away with ignoring Michael's warnings, for example in Proof though the Night, and Fight like a Dove. In the first, Marella ignores Michael's warning about telling Hawke about Moses and their connection. In the second, if you watch Marella's face when Michael says "do you like your job Marella?" the smile never leaves her face. In Fallen Angel, Marella is basically willing to sacrifice her career to help Michael- as she is telling Hawke she would go with him if she could, she is tamping down the emotion she feels. (IMHO Deborah Pratt conveyed this perfectly). Marella gets away with the gentle teasing - Michael lets her do it. Also, watch the body language in the episodes. Marella is pretty much always in close proximity to Michael - not true for the other "Angels" we see in Season 3. Marella and Michael clearly have a bond- so it's not a stretch to assume (for fic purposes) that it could develop into something more.
Michael and Caitlin however, requires a complete suspension of what we saw on screen AND human nature. Michael is surrounded by brilliant, beautiful women. Think Marella is the only multiple degree agent on his staff? Unlikely. Caitlin is closer to Stringfellow Hawke than Michael. While Hawke pushes her away at times (worried about the curse that follows him) you have to look at whom Hawke gets involved with. Think Gabrielle or any of the other ladies that pass though his life - all are of a certain type. This pairing is playing on the opposites attract trope - but other than Airwolf, there really isn't a commonality to Michael and Caitlin's lives. As mentioned above, in the episodes, Caitlin and Michael are seldom in close proximity to one another. The only episode which shows them in any real close proximity is where there is a bomb strapped to her. Michael after realizing that the bomb is set to go off doesn't attempt to escape. I see two reasons for this. One, Michael sees Caitlin as a friend as well as "one of his people" even if she doesn't directly work for him. Michael's sense of honor wouldn't permit him to leave Caitlin there and save himself. Secondly, as someone with a wrecked knee (sports injury) there is no way Michael would be able to maneuver stairs to get off the ship in a hurry. Resignation as to fate comes into play here. As the episode ends, Michael has his arm around Caitlin, again, very in character for Michael - Caitlin's reaction to Hawke is more telling however.
While this story is well crafted and written, kudos! I just find the pairing unrealistic. Just as I find the pairing of Hawke and Marella interesting but not really plausible. I think from the show, it's clear Hawke finds Marella intriguing - but she's too close to Gabrielle to be a realistic possibility. Further, from what we saw on the show, Marella appears to be frustrated to no end with Hawke. She knows he's an excellent pilot, but he's damaged goods. That's not to say that she won't conspire with Hawke to rattle Michael's cage a little - as at the end of Severance Pay. Again, the opposites attract trope.
To sum up, yes, definitely an enjoyable read! There sadly is too little well written fan fiction. Other than the pair issue addressed above, the characterization seems very good. Plotting and pacing are fantastic. My congratulations to you both - job well done.

Wow. This is such an amazing story that I couldn't put it down and read it all in one go. (nothing else to do on a lazy afternoon lol)
You and Deb have the characters pretty much spot on and I love the way they all interact with each other, especially the way Cait and Michael came to realise their love for each other. Of Dom's stubbornness and String's inability to see what was under his very nose. What I also enjoyed was that it wasn't simply another romance story but had the intrigue of Michael's brother car accident, and the drama / action of going under cover, as it were, at the retreat, and Cait's Cheyenne was just a scream.
I was a teenager when the show first came out and wondered at the time if String and Cait would get together but looking back now, it was obvious that it wasn't meant to go in that direction.
I must admit, I do like this pairing, especially coming after the episode of Kingdom Come, which I've recently re-watched and it just screamed for more between them.

Fantastic read, absolutely fantastic. I loved every page of this, and given that reading kept me up to two in the morning two nights in a row... It was hard to find places where I was willing to leave it and go to bed.
More than anything, though, Caeria, thank you for drawing out the elusive Deb and getting her to write something. I have enjoyed her work since I first started going through the Airwolf section on this site fifteen years ago (There were only twenty or so stories back then) and few write Archangel better than she does. Your collaboration here is a work of art, and I'd like to thank you both. I hope you'll forgive me for saying that I hope to see the two of you collaborating for more of these stories, this was wonderful.

Thank you for writing this story. I loved this show back in the day...wished it could have continued a bit more...and I'm sad because it's finished.

I just found this. I love to read and write airwolf fanfiction. Very well written. Even though I am a die hard String and Cait fan this was some good stuff.
