Good chapter!
So Valentine is going after the Fay? I am already feeling sorry for them hehe.
It is nice to see Valentine actually appreciates that Jace tries to put a brave face.

Hey great start!
I liked to see the protective side of Valentine. He kept reassuring Jace that everything was fine but a subtle worry was also there.
9 year-old Jace is cute hehe, I'm sure grown-up Jace would hate to be seem as that. ;)
And yay this is finally a multi-chapter story, right? Thanks for it!

Lessons: I really like that it's an adventure story - it's a little different that what you usually write and I like it so far. (Also, I think you really captured Valentine's views on mundanes with the textbook comment.)
