A lovely AU fic! I'm adding it to my favourite list :) It's smart how one change to the plot has resulted in Maria falling ill and then the whole romantic slow-burn of the Captain nursing her back to health, with the help of his children and after breaking up with Elsa of course, and eventually declaring his love for her :) Sigh!

I was watching an old sitcom called "The Nanny" today, one of the episodes reminded me of the beginning of this chapter. And I realized I had not review the story for some reasons, so here I am. I really like this story and the writing is definitely beautiful. I hope you could continue writing more stories.

"He was drawn to her like raindrops to a rose..." - that's one of the most beautiful lines I've ever read. Anywhere.
I adored Georg's thoughts as he "hid" in the study. It was great that he realised he didn't love Elsa, and that he was struggling to see her as a mother to his children. I loved how he could see the children moping around outside and he could tell they were trying to come up with a plan - he now knows his children so well thanks to Maria!
And perfect that Elsa appeared in the study, first to force the wedding plans and purchase of rings, but then to force Georg to let go of his "infatuation" with the governess. Poor Elsa! It all turned horrible for her from there...
So, now it's not just the children trying to scheme up a way to get Maria back...

I already commented this in chapter 15, but I have to say it again: this is my favorite Sound of Music fanfiction. You know what? Pretend that I didn't just say that. This is my favorite fanfiction in general. There is only one thing that I wish was in this though: I would have loved of it showed Leisl tasting the champagne. I would say: "hey, could you do an epilogue where Leisl tastes the champagne?" but I think that you ended this perfectly. Thank you so much for writing this fanfiction so that I could enjoy it.

I loved this chapter! My favorite part of it was when the children all got back, and asked Georg what he and Maria did, and Georg replied with saying that he ate dinner took a walk, got engaged, "nothing special, really." I am very fond of humor. This is my new favorite Sound of Music fanfiction.

Hi there.

Really enjoyed this one.

I normally don't care for Sound of Music AUs, because I think people try to bring Maria and Georg together too quickly to be in character. I appreciate you didn't do that here.
Even after Georg told Maria he wasn't marrying Elsa, he didn't tell her he loved her right away. He knew he had to move slowly for her. (Of course, I think he was probably a little nervous, too.)

I liked that you included a lot of the children in the story, too. I've read "Maria is ill" TSOM before, but I think they have a tendency to focus a little too much on JUST the Captain's feelings.
Honestly, I really think there needs to be a "balance" when you're writing couples with children, between too much time with the couple and too much time with the children. (Like there should be in real life with couples with children. Don't focus all your time on the kids, but don't pretend you don't have them, either.) I think you did a good job with that, here.

Also, I really appreciate that you made reference to God and prayer in this. I know a lot of people are uncomfortable with writing about religion, so that's probably why we don't see to much of it in fanfiction. Still, God and prayer was a big part of Sound of Music canon, for goodness sakes. It kind of bothers me that so many people overlook it. (And I will admit as a practicing Catholic, I like to read about my faith. :)

P. S. You write pretty well, too.
