You wrote an excellent story. I never liked the original plot all that well, either.
I was a sucker for Robert Lansing's General Savage. You stayed true to the general's character as well as the usual cast of players that supported him. I thought you did a good job with your German characters as well, very 3D, and nuanced. Most men and officers were as you described them rather than the fanatic ones that were / are portrayed in movies and TV. There were definite differences between Nazis and the majority of the soldiers in the German armed forces.
This was quite the adventure for Frank.
I hope to see you write more.

I've read this story multiple times. It far outshines the episode. What great characters and dialog! (General Savage is my absolute favorite. I think he and Wiley Crow had terrific back-and-forth banter.) Very suspenseful, I wondered how Savage was going to get home. Please consider writing more! Thanks for sharing your talent!

This is great! I'm enjoying your stories. Please keep them coming. I only discovered Robert Lansing and 12 O'clock High a few weeks ago, and I can't get enough. There is very little 12 O'clock High Fanfiction out there. Kudos.
