I like the format it is short on words choosing each word for most effectiveness, just the way Ranger would talk. It is very well done. I think when you said morally grey you meant legally grey? True heroes always have morals and you state above in the previous verses he is unyielding in his obligation to others, country and excellence. That is a definite moral code. Almost black and white in his knowledge of what he feels is right and his drive to go for it. Now legally grey, that is different as we all know the mess and vagueness of politics. Not something Ranger would like as he is too straight forward for that. Perhaps you meant legally grey as I can not imagine him trampling on what is right a bit to gain an unfair or easy advantage. He is not morally unpredictable in most stories if we believe the no price thing and ignore the contradiction of the De Chute Deal.
