WHAT A STORY! I am simply blown away by this story and I am overjoyed that you continued it. What was truly amazing is that the story never felt disjointed in content or tone. I think my favorite part was the verbal fight in the dungeons. It was incredibly well thought through and constructed perfectly. I honestly had no idea where this story was going and was impressed at the end of each chapter. This is honestly a masterpiece. I am looking forward to reading more of your stories. This is definitely one of my top favorite Merlin stories now.

i think that's a true aspect of merlin being emrys that isn't often explored in fanfic, either - the fact that arthur has learned to come to terms with the fact that men will willingly die for him. and i think merlin would struggle with that realization and that fact, try to deny or prevent it...
also i like how you show these hints of arthur's character, under the arrogance and bluster and threat. he didn't hurt anyone. he suggested a commoner make the decision - and he stuck to that. he allowed them to be clever without calling them on it, allowed the situation to be resolved to keep the secret. allowed himself to be called by his first name sarcastically, without retaliating. all of that is night-and-day difference to what uther would have done, in his place...

i really like the scenario. too many fanfics, imo, have merlin appropriating arthur's decisions in these sorts of situations, b/c /of course/ merlin is wiser than arthur... but that doesn't take into account the fact that these decisions /are/ inherently difficult, that arthur has been trained to make them and to bear the burden of making them, and the fact that merlin's character indicates that he would shy from making them, and taking that responsibility. i like merlin realizing the difficulty and weight of being the decision maker; too often people criticize and proclaim what they'd do in that person's shoes, without true comprehension...
and, there's also the consideration of appearances. something easy to discount if you're not involved, if you're judging from the outside - but pretty much vital to those involved. and undermining the authority of the king or prince can have very real consequences...

Ahhh this was such a beautiful and brilliant story! I don't have the words to describe how good it is in every aspect. Thank you so much!
Your future projects all sound so exciting and I'd love to read them when they're out!
