Really good chapter. You are building the intrigue so so well and I like how you are developing these two great characters. I feel a bit sorry for Hermione having lost her parents but I am dying to find out more of their history (I am assuming some event or events transpired between them before). Ron is his usual wonderful self...loyal, helpful and caring but still has his edge to him. Well done, and please continue.

Well done, excellent chapter though if I were nitpicking, I'd point out you missing some 'the' here and there like Order of The Phoenix. Also some of your paragraphs and dialogue aren't placed well. Apart from that, good job, loved it.

Just gets more and more intriguing. Good form on Ron's part for staying and watching over her. Despite his obvious hate for her, he was able to see past that and see a girl that needed him there to keep the nightmares away.
Not sure what to think of Ron letting her scratch the hell out of him. Shows his nature of not worrying about himself when someone needs help, but that's normally just for the people he cares about. Maybe it's just Ron's nature that Dumbledore has faith in handling Hermione and not some secret that only he knows. With the darker side of this story, I kind of expected Ron might use the scratches to make Hermione feel bad.
So Hermione definitely knows why Ron hates her. Whatever she's done then was clearly intentional.

Okay, I'm in. I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit to reading this or not, so I haven't reviewed before. The idea of Hermione being a pure-blood is a little jarring I guess. Obviously we're going to eventually learn the reason that Ron hates Hermione and that should be interesting. Thanks for posting.

Well I agree Ron certainly could have handled that better. It's so shocking to see the obvious hate for her he displays while telling her that her parents are dead. Definitely some bad stuff in their past.
Although I did find this tidbit interesting.."find annoyance and extreme hatred etched in those otherwise handsome features." So there's some obvious attraction from Hermione's side. Hmm.
Curious why Dumbledore was so adamant that it be Ron that handles Hermione. Old man must know something we don't.

I am dying to know why Ron hates her so much - there has got to be a back story here. Ron was pretty cruel to her given how bad her situation is. I am also really curious as to why Dumbledore specifically chose Ron for this task. Can't wait to find out more.
