Very interesting, I look forward to seeing this continue... Lots of skill books available for traditional skills in Japan. This includes tons of weapons skills and martial arts skills as well as esoteric medicine and alchemy and whatnot else.
The Japanese are very inclined to keep their heritage alive; I saw books about most of those topics at Japanfest in Atlanta, GA so I know he can grab them in Japan.
Plus meditation and a few others that could definitely help.
My main suggestion is for you to build a spreadsheet to keep track of stats and skills for you.

This is pretty interesting. A better character development for issei than I have seen most others do. Can't wait for the next chapter.

I like ur story. But is recommend you to have a longer wait till update than to update with a 999 word chap. It's better if you updated with longer chaps rather than shorter ones. It doesn't make the chaps seem abrupt.
