Oh my goodness! You most certainly have tragedy written in your blood! This was heart-touching and emotional and. . . goodness gracious, you keep giving me feels for what some might call a children's animated movie (or children's book series)! However, I'm inclined to believe that all movies "for children" have quite a bit of adult/young adult truth in them, which we pick up on.
This was beautiful and perfect. I felt so horrible for Astrid, losing her family like that. It was sad, but not overly-done to the pint where it might not have been believable. You did excellently with her personality! And you brightened the whole piece up there at the end with Hiccup's little proposal, which I adored and thought was entirely him!
All in all, this was a very well-done one-shot, and I enjoyed it a great deal! :)
(Though I might suggest you fix the word 'moral', because I think you meant 'morale'. It was right in the beginning and dealt with dragon races and the monotony of repairing Berk.)

Aww, Astrid comforting him while at the same time being her typical self and reminding Hiccup that everyone is flawed! I love couple moments like this, they really are priceless opportunities for a writer to show original characters in their own unique narrative. You did wonderfully; I can see Hiccup and Astrid so well, (in fact I wish this was a short film, it would be beautiful!) which in my opinion means your writing is just brilliant! I hope you keep going on these, for I'll certainly be willing to read each and every chapter!

Wow, I must admit this little vignette here has made me think about this fleeting moment in the movie with new perspective! Well done indeed! I loved that ending, with her realizations and then the kiss; brilliantly thought through and excellently executed! I myself know I couldn't do any better; your writing is stunning!

Oh. My. Goodness! My face hurt from my smile, and I chuckled until I was forced to stop by a sputtering couch! This was. . . priceless, and perfectly in-character for Hiccup! And of course Toothless was the reason the hut was burning! Silly viking and silly dragon! Astrid. . . I have to say she's a woman after my own heart! You just can't resist that little niggling temptation to prove your theories. . . *grins understandingly*

Oh *soft voice of awe* it has been so long since I've read something wonderful from this fandom! This is one of my brother's favorite series (movies too), so I try to read in this genre occasionally. It's so nice to read this, you write very wonderfully well! Brava!

This is beautiful! It can often be difficult to deal with the consequences of our decisions - even the ones we've made with the best intentions. We often need wisdom from outside ourselves to evaluate just which way we should go, which way will, in the end, lead to the truest and best conclusions for those we love, as well as for ourselves.
