I don't usually read OCs but it was interesting to watch some of my favorite characters from another's viewpoint. Kirk seemed a bit one-dimensional but it was good. to bet some insight into his split with Carol, since that was glossed over in the films. Maybe the films will revisit that relationship. Good to get glimpses into Scotty's family life also and, of course, I never tire of revisiting Spock's inner struggles.
Many of the events were TOS but Spock's memories seemed AOS - especially with regards to Spock/Uhura. But maybe his meld with Penelope is taking place during the quiescent segment of that relationship. Loved the nod to the love/respect between Spock and Kirk. Lots of writers seem to ignore it altogether or make it slash, but I like seeing writers model deep male friendship. Anyway, I would have liked to discover more about what happened to Tommy. i hope we'll learn more about that towards the end of the five-year mission. Thanks for your writing! and I look forward to the next story in this series.

oh my god. i read this story within two days and i literally had to cry a few times, sometimes i laughed (there was something kirk said... Ah, I cant remember) but it was awesome. Of course i knew that there was more to star trek than just the bridge crew, but no other story made me feel that connected with an engineer. Also, everything seemed so real. And you did a great job with the characters, they aren't perfect, but you have to love them anyways. Thanks for the story, you really have a talent! I experience a schrödinger's moment right now, because i REALLY hope that penelope survives (this is a major cliffhanger) and if she doesnt show up in the sequel, i will be pissed off, but furthermore, i think i will need a day off from reading because that would hurt me too badly. on the other hand, if she's alive, i will gladly continue reading. Oh, i love scotty. so, thanks for the great story. love, leo

Oh my! That's an ending to break the heart. I love your Penelope so very much - she's so brave, so valiant, so stubborn and so bruised, but rarely does she give up. The quirky sense of humour - magic!

I really liked that you didn't make it easy for her, and even though she was exonerated, she felt out of place and somehow inadequate afterwards. This is the sort of writing detail that makes an interesting character more fascinating and more like the rest of us mere mortals.

Now that is a brilliant twist! So rarely do you get something like that in fanfiction, whether it's a canon or OC. It really ramps up the tension beautifully.
