Today is my birthday. Just so you know. What a coincidence. Of all the days to end the story, it just had to be today. I am probably supposed to be happy, but… Let's keep the angst for later.
“I want you to heed the call of the last Master.”
Hang on. Is that a reference to Fate: Grand Order? I am trying to imagine Rin instead of a playable character, and miserably failing. It would be interesting, though. (And if that's a hint of Artoria/Ishtar, yes please!)
Now that I think about it, there is a lot of potential with this thought. Grand Order is a long game, and there is much such a story could cover. It may be worth inventing an original singularity, placed in early medieval Britain .
About the proposal scene, I am not sure whether I should weep some more, or laugh like a madman. Back when I cryptically said that I hoped for a certain scene from an original version to appear again, this is what I meant. I didn't want to spoil things for other reviewers.
What a strong ending to a great story. I would like to offer more than sad words and add something more constructive, but my memory isn't exactly good. I can hardly review a story, when I only remember bits and pieces and the rest is a fog. I do intend to reread this all, but it will take a while, if it happens at all.
Has it really been two years and eight months already? It's hard to believe. I could've sworn it was far less than that. I still remember getting that weird email. The finished story that I've been liking for some years getting updated all of a sudden, and it being a rewrite, that I don't see very often. But I persevered, I reviewed semi-regularly, and it has been quite an emotional roller coaster. It has been a wild two years, for more reasons than one, but now, the story is over. The show must go on.
Dog, I will miss this. I will miss the excitement of awaiting new chapters. And I will miss all these PMs. I treasure every single one.
As someone once said, we all die. The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. And I know that this work of art will stay with me forever. And when I will inevitably get in touch with other authors, I already know that I will never find somebody this kind, considerate, understanding, forgiving and polite as EhMatissimo is. Thank you, EhMatissimo. For listening, kinds words of encouragement, for finishing the story (congratulations!), and PMs. For everything.

There it is, an ending... certainly would not have minded more! :D
So.. yay more in the future. You never stop teasing do you?
Enjoyed this quite a bit, found a pairing I certainly did not expect to like so much. Now all other Arturia pairings no longer make sense. :D
If your book intrigues me storywise, I will certainly get it, and read it.
In the meantime, guess I will reread Fate Stay Night: Heirs I guess... :D

Is there a way to read the original story for the people who didn’t get to read it when it first posted?

What a wild ride. I’ll probably be looking back to this quite a bit in the future.
Thanks for writing this wonderful story, Eh Mattissimo.

I was like… Wait what? Until you said sequel haha. Loved the ride and will definitely check out the sequel! I need to know more about what happened with Morgan, that was a great arc.

I had a feeling after that last chapter that that was going to be the end of it. Lots of sequel teases here, a second, smaller Grail War that clearly left its scars, physically and mentally on Arturia, Faye, and Rin. Meeting all of the other Knights of the Round. Morgan-Faye being a disaster. And some FGO teasing.
I look forward to all of your future work and congratulations on rewriting this 500k fic.

I'll admit, I prefer the original ending with the semi-open relationship with Luvia and the kind of, sort of incest between Rin and Sakura, but that's just the pervert in me talking, and this ending plus the sequel hook was good.
Poor Faye though, so close to redemption and it gets ripped away from her due to magi politics.

More rape without any CWs. I love the relationship between Rin and Saber and admittedly I don't know the source material. but is this much rape really necessary? honestly these comments are more so people looking at the story know what they're getting into BECAUSE YOU CANT BE ARSED YO USE CWS.

A cw for attempted rape would have been really appreciated at the top of this chapter...

Morgan Le Fay is a selfish, sadistic, and lecherous young woman, a true model of vice. She despised her sister Arturia out of immense envy for many reasons, such as believing that Britain belonged to her because of a dark primeval power she inherited. But that dark curse no longer exists in the world and Morgan has no magic. And despite her revered legend, Arturia has no throne here to rule Britain, nor is she interested in such a claim anymore. No matter how petty or spiteful Morgan is, there is nothing left worth fighting over.
And above all, we owe a great debt to her Faye persona balancing her worst qualities with genuine affection for her sister. Morgan is among the least trustworthy of Heroic Spirits, and that's no easy achievement. And yet, if Dark Sakura can find her way back, if Saber Alter can be mollified... than perhaps there is hope for a fresh start.
After all, Arturia and Rin themselves, together again, are proof that such miracles exist.

“He likely viewed Rin's love for Arturia as a dead end to his legacy”
I like that expression. I think I will refer to myself as 'an evolutionary dead end' from now on. Wait, no, it's quite a mouthful. Radmar it is… :D
I only realized it just now, but there are definitely similarities between Rin's relationship with Sakura and Lily's with Faye.
I don't have much to say this time. I am glad Artoria wasn't peeved with Rin. In fact, it's a small pet peeve of mine. You probably know what I mean. Two characters meet each other, get along splendidly, date. Then, they have a disagreement, which turns into a huge row, but get together anyway in the end.
I really shouldn't have assumed the worst here. I just see this sort of thing way too often. I really should've known better.
Now, while I have enjoyed the visit from Lily's parents tremendously, I am kind of glad it's over for now. Rin and Lily had to limit their affection for each other, after all, so as good as the previous few chapters have been, it's nice to get back to what this story is really about.
And it's delightful to hear from Artoria again. I was beginning to think she would hide behind Lily forever.
I am looking forward to the London visit. The Clock Tower could be interesting too. If mages don't kidnap Lily and dissect her for science, of course.

This story has honestly been enthralling to read, with one change bringing about a whole new possibility. But now I am curious about something that may possibly happen...how much could the Hollow Ataraxia of this timeline change?

Once and again, second chances are priceless beyond measure, as Rin will attest by having Arturia back. A fresh start, a clean slate, without owing the world a thing. Find a new life, new goals, even new love. To dismiss and turn away such a priceless gift out of petty pride or ambition leads to nothing but the demise of a fool.
So... are you a fool, Morgan Le Faye?
