Someone in the village would likely have just had the local priest, priestess, monk, nun (or the village headman) perform a blessing with family and friends present, either at the local shrine, or at the house of the bride/groom's family. Oh my gosh, my heart. This hit me right in the heart! So many times!
First of all, you have the most incredible line in here. "It was an impossible yet simple standard; she needed to feel the way she felt when she was with Inuyasha." That line? It's perfect. It's such a simple statement and yet it packs such a wallop. It conveys so much in such a short space: the depth of her feelings for him, the intimacy between them, her loneliness in his absence. Just, guh. MY HEART.
And I loved the metaphor of the story, the idea that returning to Inuyasha felt like having her soul returned to her. I NEVER would've thought to compare those events, but it's such a beautiful parallel, and it really feels fitting. Very creative and meaningful.
I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of this!

Inuyasha's inner monologues are one of my favorite things in the world! And this one is really good! Having all these questions that he cannot ask because acording to him they are not important enough to upset Kagome... I love it!
And about their first time I think that he would follow Kagome's lead until the last minute, and then he would take control. He would feel the need to be with her because he knows she is interested in that too. And, if Inuyasha is one thing, it is being reactive to her emotions and actions so, I really think he would keep his hands on her because she is doing it to. He would start touching her in intimate ways because her hands are wandering too. And they will get down to it, when she is ready, not really caring about if it is before or after getting married. Just when it feels right. That is my take in it XD not that my fic follow that for plot purposes but yeah XD
