You can add to the fact that his family sold potions outside of Britain that added to his fortune

*Sneering Snickering* So, you *keep* harping on about ol' Hermy pulling a brain from somewhere and telling this or that person big brain maneuvers.
So, how abouts you do a character rant on Hermione? Once you start a looking, I'd be *very* interested in your conclusion on the b int.
Very interested indeed, to see how you'd twist canon to keep praising this, supposedly intelligent, character. Or if you'd be honest enough to tell it like it is.

On the other hand, A wizarding population of 6-10,000 would explain why a terrorist with 30 death eaters could so scare the population.
(Voldie and 13 were involved in Battle of DOM and we know there were a number not present there: Carrow twins, pettigrew etc)
Still taking into account casualties of war, that would explain why harry's year of 41 and the 3-4 before are smaller than normal that hogwarts has about 300-350 students. We also only know about some of the people (only 6 gryffindors of the twin's year are mentioned, only 2 of percy weasley's year)

Dumbledore telling Harry that his secret power is love after causing him to never know love throughout the series and subjecting him to abuse is signs of dumbledore's priming harry to show love as Jesus did, dying for wizard world's sins.

Don't forget the Potion Mistress Molly concept that comes from her admitting in book 4 that she used love potion on Arthur. This is another side of controlling.

for 11/12. Book one has him actually saying scars can be useful meaning he is leaving a child with a bad scar (open wound) on doorstep in November.
He didn't bother to knock of the door to see if they would even accept child (vs just killing it or taking it to orphanage).
36) He shows he knows Harry has Horcrux, he tell harry that voldemort put something in him giving him gift of parseltongue in office after chamber of secrets.
40) Not ward known entrances to the school, especially whomping willow that he setup to allow Remus to change safely and he knows (thanks to 6th year incident of snape going to willow) Sirius, Peter, snape and Remus all know about.
43) Age line is worse than nothing as any over age student could have dropped underage name in cup. Harry had to be another school because those underage names normally would normally not be good enough to be selected. that said no one else in school came up with it? This is major plothole.
53) Worse, he plants guards on the house whose purpose has to be keep Harry in the house and under abuse because they were hidden from Harry, couldn't carry messages to him from his friends (sure assuming owls were danger, the guard on duty could have brought them). It can't be for Harry's safety or the wards on the house were flawed. (they were anyways, voldemort had harry's blood)
63) be so easily tempted by the hallow in the ring.
65) continue to hire incompetant or allow incompetant and criminal Defense instructors to insure that Harry who has to face voldemort has no competent teaching (other than 3rd year and that was focused on creatures, not defense against other wizards).
I am also unsure who is most evil in the Potter books, Voldemort (killer, torturer, classic meglomaniac), Umbridge (organized, systemattic using tools and others for evil (camps) or Dumbledore (manipulator that uses others and throws away lives, leader of cult of personality). They are just different types of evil

I got with Cog. Considering 7 years herself (4-6 times a year) for 28-42 visits to the platform. Then add 7 years for Bill which is another 28-42. 2 more years until charlie graduates that adds another 8-12. This adds up to 64-96 trips. I would call it manipulative.
That said,
1) Most muggles would have no idea a muggle is wizard term and a mug is british slang for an idiot. Most people hearing talk about muggles all around would probably a) agree that place is full of muggles and b) just assume that they aren't one of them but everyone else is.
2) Hearing Ginny mention 9 3/4 is manipulation but they would just think it is child saying something silly. It is only meanful to someone that knows about the platform and statue of secrecy, not bulk of public.
Thus it is blatant manipulation but likely not really a risk.

There is a reason that best sellering SF author David Weber has asked that no one create fan fiction in his universes and that he will prosecute if he find it.

I agree with this mostly except that some wizarding families have been collecting and building up monday for 1000 years or more. Admittedly some really wasted and ruined themselves (guants that basically stopped interacting with most people and only marrying in family) but I could see a couple billion for peverell/Potter family. Not much more than that but I could see it with a lot of the wealth being investments into other wizard businesses or in jewelry/magic items (definately not that much in a gringott's vault. it isn't big enough

-40 students in Harry's year, the smallest year by student count in recent history due to the war.
-Except 45 to 60 students in the other years above, so up to 400 students in 1991.
-In 1991, 400 people aged 11 to 17. That's about 57 people per age. If wizards and witches can live up to 130yo, that's 57x1307410 people.
-Let's say that only 70% of witches and wizards go to Hogwart, and the other are homeschooled or something. These 7410 people are those that went to Hogwart, and thus the total number of witches and wizards is closer to 11000 people.
-And that's considering: 1-war casualities and post war baby boom cancel each other. 2-not taking into account death by clumsiness, work hazards, illnesses (which increase with aging), and old age itself.

so if i took a good 90 percent of your original ideas and claimed i came up with it you would not get upset then?

Voldemort probably DOES count as at least a lord, since one of the first steps to becoming a king (or assuming a lesser title) is to declare yourself whatever, and have no one gainsay you.

On a related note to this, authors who INSIST on having their characters refer to spells by the incantation is like someone pulling out a pistol and firing off a shot instead of saying the word "bang" - because holding a wand and saying an incantation is how you cast the spell!
Do you think anyone in close proximity to Mad-Eye Moody would live past saying the first syllable or two of Avada Kedavra, whether they had a wand in hand or not? Moody wouldn't wait to see if they were just talking about the Killing Curse or casting it, he'd cast to kill immediately and deal with any consequences later. Leaving aside the issue of negligent discharges, there are MANY excellent reasons why people say "Killing Curse" or "AK" instead of "Avada Kedavra" to refer to that spell!
Think of the reaction of a crowd of Muggles to a man pulling out an AK-47 and aiming it at the crowd - that's how Magicals would react to someone starting to say "Avada Kedavra" - it wouldn't even matter if it was a friend or loved one doing it, in a world that has the Imperious Curse!

It should also be noted, regarding copyright and permission, that fanfiction authors who get all worked up about someone writing fanfiction of their fanfiction without their consent are HYPOCRITES. It's highly unlikely they sought permission before publishing their fanfiction, so why do they expect other fanfiction writers not to do the same just because the inspiration for the new fanfiction is a work of fanfiction?

A few things:
First, North Dakota is not the only state that kept 14 as the age of consent into/near the 21st century, Hawaii did too. Some Mexican states still set it at 12.
Second, it's entirely possible that Harry's malnutrition DID have a major impact on his magic. Voldemort is a Hogwarts graduate, knows countless spells, has a deep knowledge of magical theory and the dark arts, and has a 50ish year head start on Harry in a magic system where age correlates strongly to power. For Harry to be the equal of Voldemort, he'd have to be INSANELY powerful and talented in magic - a once in ten thousand years prodigy. But while Harry is noticeably above average at a number of things, he's nowhere near strong enough to face Voldemort as an equal. That malnutrition and abuse he suffered before coming to Hogwarts would neatly explain why he's not, if that sort of thing affected magical development.
Third, the existence of magical cores is fanon, not canon.
