oh my gosh, yes! why did this not happen in the book?! this is why so many people with evil/manipulative!Dumbledore stories have dumbles putting wards on the castle that make people not talk to their parents about the dangerous things going on, and consider it unimportant.

It's sad that just doing that could realistically (for a fantasy novel) have saved them an entire year's worth of troubles, possibly two since Crouch Jr wouldn't have impersonated Moody and put Harry in the Tri-Wizard tournament.
