This last chapter (32) was hard to read. I do like thorns pov and Jenna's pov but when you rewrite the same scenes from their perspective it makes it harder to finish the chapter.
But other than that I like the story and I spent my free time reading this. I hope you update soon. But it seems you go months at a time not updating. So I'll just set the fic for it to email me of updates.

I just discovered this story and have been reading it over the last few days, and it is amazing! I was trying to pace myself to Chapter 32 because then I’d be up to date with where the story is at, and now it’s on an actual cliff hanger!
I’m going to do my best to communicate everything I’ve been feeling about the story, but my words will probably fall short.
I’m so glad to have found this story. Jenna is such a fantastic character and it feels so comforting, refreshing and just relatable to read the adventure through her eyes. All the decisions around her involvement in the story — losing her voice, having to learn to get it back over the course of the company’s quest and learning the Iglishmêk — have been very thoughtfully chosen and executed so well. I really like the story’s depiction of body image, and have found it so interesting to see it reflected through the prism of different cultures and what she’s learning about herself from that. Her characterisation (including personality, dealing with emotions and mental health) has also just been written so beautifully and with so much depth. And those moments when you get glimpses of her seeing herself more accurately (like with the birthday present portrait) just mean so much.
In particular, how that has come out in her interactions with Thorin is so touching. The switch in perspectives between chapters and Jenna and Thorin always come at the exact right time, and I love how you follow what has just happened from the other’s perspective but then also progress the story’s timeline further near the end of those chapters. You tease out so well all the complexities in how they read each other’s emotions, how they handle conflict and how they perceive each other. This is an absolute highlight for me, you obviously have a huge talent for depicting each character in the company as their own person with their own emotional complexities and conveying that in their interactions with others.
I’m absolutely dying to see what just happened in Goblin Town from Thorin’s perspective, and for some Jenna and Dwalin bonding. My hope is they’ve found their way to some quiet tunnels at the bottom of the mountain like Bilbo did and that they can leave with minimal self-defence required after all that stress! Please update soon, the tension in waiting to see how this off-the-path-ness will be resolved is strong!
