Sweet. I think James can only described as freaking SWEET in this chapter... and really really talkative! X) He may not love her yet but he is a really really good friend! And a gentleman too when he wants... great idea making him understand girls are not china dolls who can't pay for themself... Lily would destroy him if they go to a date, otherwise...
i like how he is growing up and she is enjoying being a teenager... you made her Narcissa cousin, hard family to be in... i wonder if dear Bellatrix will make an appearence... she must not have taken well her aunt marriage, at all!
I have to admit Lily reaction to the date wasn't what i imagined it to be, but she did have a friend at St. Mungo so...
Anyway, great job like always!

Maybe you should thinking about giving sarah a best friend (male or female) to help her understand her future feelings for him...

Wow I already have high hopes for this fic, this first chapter was a really good start. I think you did a great job of characterizing Sarah, she was relatable from the very beginning and her interactions with James are fantastic. I'm hoping for a slow build with these two, with a bit of jealousy and pining in the mix. :)
I also really liked that you started the fic in medias res instead of giving us too much background information at the very beginning.
Also YES to everything you said in your foreword, especially the part about bitchy and one-dimensional Lily (which is a trope that I'm so tired of seeing in these kinds of stories).
Really exited about where you might take this fic, I'm hoping you keep the updates coming :)

Finally! Thank you very much for trying a plot like this! Lily and james are an amazing couple but i find pleasure in reading james/oc without all the bashing of lily like crazy (in canon she vasy a good person, maybe a bit nerdy and rules follower, but it's really necessary make here a bitch just to break the couple? No i don't think so) anyway, i like your oc very much... she is sarcastic and realistic and never having a boyfriend before make her reactions, like blushig, think she is flustered by her prossimity with a boy she likes- Great thinking! - and james is such a funny and caring character (he isn't a saint but he is loyal to the people he cares about)
I really can't wait to read the next chapter
