Ohhh boy...is this Shadow a Brine? Perhaps Null? It seems like this Shadow is an ancient thing, locked away for centuries, so no newer generations know of it.

Maybe the great War was caused by mistrust and suspicion of Spawn and their kind. Maybe one Spawn (A Brine?) did something terribly wrong, an unforgivable mistake, causing hatred to rain down on all Spawn, and eventually leading to a dark and bloody war.
This explains the reason for the Spawn's coded language. They probably had to be very cautious in those dark times, living in constant fear of being found and killed. Of being caught in the dark alleys they tried to hide in and escape through. Maybe some were captured and tortured, prisoners of war, forced to tell where other Spawn were hiding. It must have been a horrid time for the Spawn.

CATCH THAT PIGEON!
Oh my gosh, that had me in stitches! XD Still laughing from it, and the people around me are looking concerned!
Loving Hawk and Slime more and more. Slime seems to trust people a little more, I take it? I'd like to get to know them more, perhaps a chapter on their past hurts and triumphs will help me love and connect with the characters all the more.
I like how common suspicion of Spawn make them out to be demons. I mean, shapeshifters!? It would have ME speculating on whether or not they are evil or intend harm. The unknown scares us the most right? And right now, a lot of mystery still shrouds Spawn.

XD haha, I started laughing at Slime as well...pffft, he WAS the cause for the explosion!
Wow, in such a short while, Slime and Brown seem pretty comfortable with each other.
I have one concern though. Farmers can't leave on a whim, they have animals, crops!
I like how outraged Slime is at noobs being in the capital. Am I right in guessing Slime was also once a noob and got into trouble in the city?
The Nether is a hellish place. It must be quite a test to prove you're no longer a noob. Trial by fire, I guess.

A hawk shapeshifter...uugghhh now I REALLY wanna draw that!
I'm loving all of these original characters. It's very much Minecraft, but there aren't as much of Herobrine's and Steve's and Notch's legends as there are in other books.

heh, nothin' but questions about your name, eh Slime?
Slime seems to not trust Villagers as much. Perhaps because of a past wound? Was he ever hurt deeply or betrayed by the Villagers? Does he know the history of the War?
I'm enjoying this Minecraft fanfic immensely!

Oof! I almost forgot to review! I was so eager to move on to the next chapter!
I understand now why Spawns are such a mystery. Most prefer to be non-social. I'm glad Slime wasn't treated with too much hostility though.
I kind of want to draw some fanart of Slime. It may take me awhile, but the picture in my head of Slime is so adorable, I want to get it on paper!
If I do draw the fanart, I'd like to send it to you, maybe in a PM or something.

Well, that was a quick transformation! I didn't expect it to be that fast. Poor ol' Brown! Is Slime gonna get him?
Man, Slime's really been saving Brown's butt a lot. I wonder if Brown will help Slime at least once? Maybe he protects a wounded Slime as angry Villagers demand recompense for a crime Slime was framed for? Who knows? *hint hint* lol

I knew the guy would try to prove his innocence. I love how he still has a bold face though, he's trying not to show weakness. He's still wounded. It wouldn't be smart to become too comfortable. I wonder if either the Spawn or the Villager is going to face retribution, though. The farmer for sheltering a Spawn, or the Spawn for helping an enemy.

I also love how the Spawn are divided up. Crafters, Hybrides, and Brines (OMIGOSH I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE A CERTAIN BRINE).
It's neat how the Villagers consider themselves 'Men'. Then again, if I were in the Villagers' shoes, I wouldn't consider creatures who could summon objects from thin air as humans.
I also love how there was a massive war against the Spawn. We showed Warrick we could retaliate though!

I didn't realize Spawn could communicate with the Villagers. I'm loving this story more and more! The coughing and post-explosion scenes were very well-written and descriptive.

Oh! THIS IS SUCH A NEW APPROACH I LOVE IT! It's told from the villagers' point of view, whereas other books are normally told from the players'! I love the descriptions, the Villagers seem rather plain. Plain name, plain barns, in contrast, the Spawns seem more extravagant. They are mysterious, deadly, little is known about them.
I can't WAIT to see where this goes!
