Jesus christ Jaune is so submissive he miles well be bending over. You see the charm of Jaune is that he’s himself and says whatever he feels like.

Hey there. Just started reading this story, although I've had it on my to-read list for a while.
Anyways, I've been enjoying it so far!
I like that you decided to go off-script from the usual story line. It really spices things up, and adds increased tension because the readers can no longer predict what's going to happen as easily. Plus, it allows you to explore more of the setting than just the usual near-Beacon/Vale surroundings.
I also really dig that you're using the Grimm as a real threat/antagonist. It was always weird how little Remnant came off as a Death World in canon when there were all these inhuman, bloodthirsty abominations around, who had supposedly pushed mankind back to the point where over 90% of the planet belongs to the Grimm. A story-arc showing them off as the near-natural disaster type threat that they are is appreciated.
Looking forward to reading the rest of the story.

It has been a while since I last readed this fic, I have been really busy, but I'm so glad to see that the quality of the chapter is as amazing as ever.
Ever wondered what an Orbittal Cannon shot would look on RWBY?
Take a look at that Dust bomb, Jaune's Platoon sure knows how to throw a suprise gift.
The concept of hitting, running, hitting again and continuing running is a brilliant one, a tried and true method also, when heavily outnumbered, you want to thin their forces as much as possible.
That bloody T-34 deserves more than glory, taking out so many Grimms and one of the titans Meh Teh is an amazing dying will feat.
I have been reading this chapter maybe a paragraph each day, but when I got to the part that Nonna practically killed herself to save Katyusha I NEEDED to continue, it brought back flashbacks from the movie, and one has to admire the will that Katyusha had to continue dispite everything that Nonna means to her.
I was so relieved when Jaune refused to give up and rescued Nonna, the real Ice Queen is too much important to die so easily.
I do think that the actions of Jaune will not go unnoticed in both ways, on one hand, Katyusha will never forget this, and the actions of the .the rescue of the IS-2 will gain a lot of respect, but on the other hand, the most valuable asset of that fort, the Hunter Platoon, disobeyed a direct order to retreat, and almost got themselves killed, which could have meant the end of all the fort.
I do think that Katyusha will cover them considering they rescued Nonna.
As for the sword, despite what Jaune think, I'm sure every Arc would be proud that the Sword was lost on a battle for Humanity in which Jaune performed a key role, and that sword was lost in a heroic act, the sheer will to save Commander Nonna, and that itself turned into a inspiring act, one which made the platoon and other soldiers fight to the bitter end to save the crew and show loyalty to their leader (and not even leader in Darjeeling's case).
Looking forward to next chapter, lots of things will happen for sure, keep it up!

I'm loving this story so far and loving it even more because I'm a huge weapon nerd. I'm very excited to see how this story ends. Good work!

Love this and last chapter especially the fact that some of these tanks just can't pierce the armor of the larger Grimm, you've got a America realizing the 75mm Sherman gun isn't enough type thing that I really like.

Good chapter, I'd agree that the chapter was hectic but it does show how chaotic it got on the battlefield. The commanders' vehicles getting slammed by the Grimm really show how no plan survives contact with the enemy.
I really enjoy how Lieutenant Stone step up to the plate this chapter, you can tell he is really working toward making up for his previous blunder. It's interesting to note that Ruby's thoughts on the man imply that Weiss isn't the only one holding some kind of grudge against him. I'm sure that if he keeps putting in the effort, he will eventually form a decent working relationship with everyone.
Also it was really awesome to see everyone, both hunter and soldier, staying behind and working together to save what remained of IS-2. Weiss preforming a partial summon to save them from the Mehteh was a nice tough. Although its a shame that Jaune lost one of his swords. Maybe he could salvage the metal and try to re-purpose it once the fighting has calmed down for a bit.
I look forward to what looks like their final stand against the Grimm horde next chapter.

Not Nonna! Hope she makes it out alright, they got her to some medics nice and quick and the Valean Medical Corps is probably pretty great at what it does (being based off the Anglo-American one). Jaune getting her out was pretty much expected for his character, and it was nice to see the trainees and the Valeans forming an all-around defence. Definitely shows how capable they can be in performing a fighting retreat, though I notice that Jaune didn’t give the order – it was Coco and Sun. That could be cause for friction later, especially how he basically stops commanding to do that.
If Nonna survives I could see her calling him out on that. Brave thing for a private; probably a risky thing for an officer. Admittedly they can’t afford to lose a competent officer like her (or Katyusha, or both) either, and what she did was also a bit questionable. Then again, I suppose that only Jaune could have pulled her out then and there (I suppose Yang or Nora could have tried it, but they weren’t there at the right time).
Those Valeans, though. I greatly appreciate the application of artillery in this chapter (and that one Valean with the 2” mortar). To be fair Stone should probably have called in a Victor Target (200 guns), and 36 guns does seem a little short for an Uncle Target (though I do suppose they’re heavier guns than 25 pounders, so there are less of them). Since Stone and Jaune aren’t artillery observers, the arty HQ could have modified the request for a larger concentration.
Fight scenes were good as usual, the team-fighting aspect here with their localised counter-charges etc was played up. In general, the trainees’ cohesion rather than Jaune’s own leadership was displayed here. It was appropriate, I think, for Weiss to slip up with such severe consequences, and that’s good material for the characters to reflect on later.
That being said, I’m uncertain about the inclusion of the summoned knight at the end of this chapter. It was a very fast-paced chapter, and that made it all the tenser, but I don’t think there was enough time for its impact to be felt. Also, they way it was introduced – basically as a double-take from Jaune – didn’t seem like the best, either. If it was in the next chapter or while Jaune was doing his daredevil thing rescuing Nonna, I feel that it would have been more dramatic. Also it’s somewhat stealing Jaune’s thunder – too many exceptional acts happening in quick succession make it less exceptional. The dust mine from the last chapter was also Weiss’ thing too, arguably.
Thinking back on it, I think you might have missed an opportunity to make Weiss slip up and use that as a catalyst for her actually starting to seriously respect the Valean infantry on the ground – with them helping fix /her/ mistake in their valour. A gradual process over time rather than just Stone doing off-screen stuff and calling in an Uncle target.
A bit more critical this time, but it was a great chapter overall despite these few points that I’m just being finicky about, really.
Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next chapter.
