The Itachi in the flashback had the cunning I was talking about, which the present Itachi lacks.
You could make Michael win the match not because of his power but his experience. This could make Michael realize that Itachi is almost as powerful as him despite being much younger and motivate him to get stronger to keep the distance.
Have you thought about Itachi training his strategic thinking with Sona?

Great chapter bro gotta love itachi's rage mode! It's only shown once or twice in shinden, but jeez...I mean look what happened to orochimaru after he tried to mess with itachi...and yes Loki is very fucked, mmm...I'd say a goku vs yamcha level of fucked
