Perhaps I’m reading to much into it, but your authors note at the end of this chapter (specifically the part about Satan ‘walking about’) is making me think that Sebastian is more than just another demon, that he could actually be the Devil.

Unless I’m mistaken, it sounds as though a vampire snuck into the Phantomhive mansion and stole something. What exactly was stolen will most likely be revealed in a future chapter.
