Nice close with Brent and Cory embracing but I'm sure that this isn't the end of their conflicts. Still, I think they at least won't be so quick to write off the other without hearing each other out.
I'd like to read about what Shawn has to say on the subject so if you ever decide to restart this, that would be awesome!

Egads!
Cory and Brent REALLY went at it all bad! Yes, Cory was right to be appalled that Brent had grown up where alcohol and drugs were openly used but attacking Brent's late mother for that having happened was TOTALLY wrong. Cory should have said he was sorry that Brent had had to have this happen but not say one word against the mother- especially,as Brent point out, since Cory had ZILCH to do with his upbringing (and, yes, the fact that Cory seemed to have known Brent's existence before but did nothing to attempt to support Brent's single mother even being in another country was something Cory needed to be called on). I hope one day Brent will understand that getting into drugs and alcohol solves nothing but just makes things worse for the user and all loved ones.
I like how Topanga did her best to be the voice of reason even mentioning that she'd been friends with Brent's late mother. I like how you have her having truly forgiven Cory of having cheated during their courtship and confident that he was a faithful husband that she loved despite his flaws. Alas, one problem of GMW was not only did Topanga forever hold the whole Lauren mess over Cory's head as an excuse to browbeat him despite her having claimed to have forgiven it when they reconciled on BMW but worse on GMW was that she seemed to have little if any true affection left for Cory.
Yeah, Brent seems done with Cory but how long will he be able to keep cage fighting? Not only will it be a matter of time before Brent's injuries could wind up permanently debilitating, crippling or even killing him (and if he makes it to 50, he could be seriously hobbled by these injuries mounting up) but he risks being deported back to the UK if the authorities get wind of him working in an illegal venue! Maya seems to at least be trying to keep Brent from totally bolting for her, Riley's and Auggie's sakes. Yes, it was a risk for Maya to have Brent stay over her place but he seemed to grateful and injured to try anything.
Intriguing story and I hope you one day decide to continue it. I wonder how Cory will react to Brent's occupation? Will Alan who'd won the Silver Gloves for being the 2nd best boxer of his weight in the Navy somehow be proud of Brent's prowess if they ever meet?
