Oh my goodness. I'm having such a good time reading your work. This was one of my favorites. You really got the pain and heartache of infertility down pat. When Nancy couldn't even talk to Bess since she has kids and George because she never wanted them, she must feel so alone. I felt terrible when the tests kept coming back negative. Ned is an amazing husband, so supportive and when Miranda came into their lives? Ugh- soooo lovely. I can't take it. And the ending of this story just about killed me- it could not have been more perfect. I can have a lovely night now having read this! Amazing!

Wow! What an absolutely wonderful story. I loved every bit of it. I felt Nancy and Ned's pain and heartbreak at not being able to conceive. You paint the characters so well, so full of emotion and love. I was simply amazed at how you showed Nancy still being a detective, still taking on jobs, despite her personal setbacks.

All the characters and their motivations were full-bodied and contained such rich depth. No shallow or one dimensional characters here. I was there with Nancy and Ned in their living room and then with Nancy in the alley and the police station.

This might be a short story, but it lacked nothing in characterization or plot. I was fully engaged in every detail and then the ending ... The ending was beautiful and perfect.
