I wouldn't blame it on the writer from what I can tell TV Tokyo executives control how is the main character thus if ash can win and leave the show all the writer did was write HOW ash would lose otherwise great story

Ash didn't look like he took his loss that hard in the show, but I feel that Ash needs what you wrote in your story, you wrote a wonderful piece.

This was quite painful, though the ending was a relief. For Ash, after everything he's been through and achieved, having to both lose and run the social media gauntlet is bound to be soul-destroying.

I see what you mean about the series. It wouldn't be the first franchise to get hopelessly stuck in a mile-deep rut; though this takes the biscuit. Letting Ash have his dream, and let someone else take up his mantle, might have given the franchise a new lease of life.
