Personally, i love long chapters, the longer the better, but i know how shorter chapters are more practical. Easier to spellcheck/edit, and then kick out the door lol. If you find keeping things more bite sized works better for you, by all means go with it. I love this tale you're weaving, and am excited for what's next.

Marvelous start to the new case. Lots of possibilities for culprits given all the personal and political elements involved. I see that Special Agent ZG is once again going to be prominent. I don't have a problem with that as I quite enjoy the character.
As to the smaller chapter size...
I think it was an adequate size, covered a reasonable amount of story and ended at a reasonable place. Glad to see you are giving this a try.

An entertaining Christmas story with a reasonably happy ending for the ones that deserved it. Loved the handling of the situation at the airport. Throughout the story you had so many little comments and situations that I got a good chuckle over.
Don't know the reference for the raccoon, if there was one, but, it's not a big deal.
