Ok i had an entire rant about Daphne and how she was such a bland character and how i was so on the Rose/Harry ship. But now, if that’s actually what regulus said i’ve underestimated this story massively with Harry being inconsistent with how he was portrayed morally but i see it now as more of an academic interest in the Dark arts (which i bet he’s regretting now only having charms to save his family) and how he manipulates people but then acts as a wet rag when confronted about it.
I honestly didn’t think this story was going in this direction. I truly didn’t think anyone would have the balls to kill her but I truly apologise for doubting you, hope we see the aftermath of this event

I will be honest, it was a struggle to get this far in the story so far with how dense and crawling everything was previous, I was looking forward to the arrival at Hogwarts, but boy this is not great. Every character is either quite unlikable or confusing.
I recognize that Daphne Greengrass is basically a character of the fandom and has no real presence in cannon, but she isn't even a character in this, she is a caricature. She is 135% unhinged psycho with no positive character traits at all, she's incredibly loud, vulgar, rude, and INCREDIBLY violent, she should have been expelled within 10 minutes of entering the castle.
Hermione is generally in character-ish, but somehow you can trick people into a different house by making them think about that house? That is the most Deux-ex bullshit reason to get Hermione in Slytherin I've ever come across short of the hat just saying "Nah trust me"
Harry is a collection of contradictions and immediately became unlikeable when he spoke to Draco about how he's only using Hermione as a tool for later. Congratulations, Harry is now a piece of shit, who has a random Phobia of women and is frail and unable to tolerate being within the walls of Hogwarts. You'd have thought that he and Ol' Granpappy Arcturus would have figured out how these things might have been a problem with the extras 3 years they've had to prepare.
And why is everyone 14 instead of 11 in first year? That's not explained at all either 6 chapters in.
I recognize that you stated you wanted to treat this story as if it were a stand alone novel and not explain any of the differences from Canon like many authors do, and that is your right as the author, but don't be surprised if you lose a lot of your readers pretty early on if you have enormous differences, a positively completely AU world history and culture, and just explain it as "The world has an AU history". This is a fanfic and people still have preconceived expectations. You don't need to spoil major differences, but you can't just go on and on and leave people completely in the dark as to what the fuck is going on.
6 chapters in and we don't know anything about the world or Harry's situation or why he's a Black and has completely forsaken the Potters at all.

Daphne is such a bitch omg, to Harry and Hermione. I hoped she would changed but then I read some reviews and it seems to me that the flaws I perceived were not characters' flaws that will then be corrected by character development, but just story's flaws. I wanted to give this fic a shot, but it would be a waste of time. I think I did read it a few years ago. I do not like to read biased perspectives that are never corrected - if the main characters are a***hole (or even evil from what I understand about Harry and his grandfather later on), it should have a purpose in the story as a whole, not just them being assholes and always treated in the scenario like it's OK. I am enjoying the story for the most part but I do not enjoy angsty characters and there is no warning or attention to it, this is under adventure and mystery. A girl gets close and he runs and hides, he is 14 for god’s sake. Further more, what is the issue with his physique?

The whole handling of Lethifold scenario put me off this story and what the MC took as a decision.
For me, the MC turned alien from a relatable character and ultimately made me abandon readin this story.
Till the halfway point, the story I have read is good. Complex characters with complex motivations. Mystery still surrounding the Potter still getting killed. Most important question on what happened to Tom Marvelous Riddle. How the roles have been invested with regards to Pureblood and Muggleborn scenario. And so on.
But, despite the suppression of the Conservatives here, due to actions of Arcturus during the Lethifold scenario and using it to teach a costly lesson to MC for a price of "just" thousands of people price and MC telling that he didn't feel anything for that part, only for putting his family in danger is off putting and a weak point.
Wherein the Conservative faction started in good books of the reader, the Lethifold arc, proved that adults and the rest of the conservative faction surrounding the black were right to be suppressed. Hell, Arcturus sending his daughter to attack Prewett and getting killed throws it further. And you see Harry agreeing with those actions further killing his guilt over his actions, just killed any goodwill I had towards the MC
My taste is for MC even flawed, has a moral compass which guides him. Since, I am missing such MC, I am stopping here.
Still, till here, the story was engaging, the politics were interesting and characters were well developed and a great deal of mystery to keep this story enthralled. Great job.

This is just a really uncomfortable reading experience. The pacing is terrible and the characters all seem to have frequent, wild emotional swings. Seven chapters and tens of thousands of words in and I don't really have a concrete grasp on the MC's personality, nor that of most of his friends/acquaintances. Everyone in the story seems strangely confrontational all the time, aside from the MC (except when he's randomly very aggressive), which just seems like a really ham fisted attempt to paint him in a good light. A lot of the early conflicts seem manufactured and/or nonsensical, and the world being built seems flimsy and inconsistent.
