I really loved this. It has a lot of atmosphere, Christmas and winter, too. The small battle between Hogan and Newkirk, who does let his opinions get ahead of him from time to time, was electrifying. Great slice of holiday cheer ... it almost makes me want to be a POW at Stalag 13, at least to get to eat some of those Christmas cookies.

I'm always a sucker for Christmas story, and this one is most out of the ordinary. Gritty military stories are usually not my thing, but I enjoyed the somber, yet cheeky tone of this one. Backstories are always good, and this makes the character of Hogan more real and more human-not just another wise guy. More than enjoyable and extremely well-researched and written!

What a beautiful story. I'm absolutely enraptured. The language, layout of the plot and each exchange between characters, it was all genius. I don't think there was a spare line that didn't contribute in some way, or drive the tension higher. I'm so glad I didn't look up the translation of 'Weihnachtsmann' until the end. Spotting all the clues along the way made it even more fun. Going by the plot and setting, I shouldn't have liked it, but I really, really did!

Argh! Hogan's not a Nazi. He's not your enemy! Just talk it out, guys. I love the sense of drama that builds throughout this chapter. Its beautiful and eerie, at the same time. There was one passage in particular that was so perfect I had to read it three times before I could move on. It was funny, but not too funny to pull us out of the tension of the scene.
'Carter felt his hear beating through his winter coat. It sounded like a whole fife and drum corps was keeping pace with him. That was no exaggeration. The rest of the marching band had already taken up residence in his stomach. It was amazing that it hadn't woken the entire wood.'

Oh my goodness! This is so clever! I don't even like Christmas, so I wasn't going to read it, but I'm so glad I did. I didn't even clue in until he mentioned the radar and all the new technology. What an ingenious premise! I can't wait to see what happens next. Hogan may have bit off more than he can chew. :-)

Klaussen. Boy do I feel dumb. I think the hostility threw me, as well as not being in tune with Christmas (being Jewish)...not the first thing I would think of. But that being said, this is quite a unique tale.

You have an Intetesting take on the early stages of the operation. A bit of mistrust, the fact that not all the prisoners are aware...I've taken note of a few homages to the series (the raid on the sub pens, the change in code name). A lot of thought went into this, and your writhing is polished. The description of how everyone takes their places when the Germans enter the barracks is unique.

wow - a really spooky story. I really liked seeing the group in the early stages, with the group dynamics much more unstable and trust not yet earned. I thought the tension was very intense - I would love to see an expanded version of this story! It was a bit confusing - I thought I had figured out who the visitor was, but the animosity and the tension threw me. I also would have liked to see hogan and klaussen come to an understanding , but i enjoyed the story!

I loved this! It was very well-written, and the idea was a unique one to explore. I guessed who 'Weihnachtsmann' was from the beginning, but it was interesting to see how events unfolded. The ending was a really lovely touch; I could just imagine their shock! :-D
I can't help but wonder, though, why Klaussen showed such hatred towards Hogan. I thought perhaps Klaussen would explain himself when he met with 'Papa Bear'. I sort of wish that element of the story would have been explained a bit more, yet at the same time it leaves a nice mystery for the reader to ponder.
