What a sad chapter, it kills me that they were so little together when shit hits the fan. Well I hope they are not in a new relationship with another person, we all know that they belong to each other.
By the way no one would believe that the messages and the audios were fake, so we cannot completly blame Darcy.

Having read the last chapter, this part made me stop.
"I was arrogant enough to assume that you could feel for me what I felt for you," he said in his hoarse, near-cough voice. He rubbed his chest, over his tie. "I've learned my lesson."
Darcy said he learned that she actually didnt cheat from Bingley before plane. So what is he talking about? Elizabeth said that they didnt see each other after break up. I'm kinda confused

Ok I’m a bit behind in responding but I needed to respond to this chapter! ! Damn incredible job! I don’t know how you knew I was missing some frozen tundra plane time, but damn that was perfect. You brought us back to the two of them snuggling in the frozen air! Darcy holding on tight to Elizabeth! I have to say I actually gasped when I read how Darcy was confronting Elizabeth asking about this “Richard” guy and some text messages. Damn damn damn! If I had Caroline’s scrawny neck in my grasp I would have popped her head off lol! Poor Elizabeth! You did a freakin fantastic job writing these scenes and and terrible Darcy feels about everything, how he treated his dyslexic and honorable girlfriend who has been mentally abused all her life, and yet she’s still worried that Darcy deserves more? Damn well written! So much emotion! Love every damn minute! I re-read Alaska now too! Mighty talented! Thank you! You make stories that just speak to the soul, by being so visual! Keep it coming!

Wow, this chapter has so many layers! You have a deep understanding of relationships and the true, underlying reasons why they sometimes don’t work. Insecurity on BOTH of their parts. Darcy struggling with his desire to please his father, and how much of what his father wants Darcy to be has become ingrained in Darcy. Elizabeth’s fear that there really isn’t a “reason” for her lack of academic success. Both dealing with the weight of parental disapproval, and it leads to insecurities in their own relationship. Intentional or unintentional gaslighting.

She may be right, she may be wrong. It is possible they could have dealt with the issue(s) and come out on top. But she would have to have come clean with him - trusted him with the truth of her struggles, which she may not have, since she was pretty much denying it even to herself, convinced she was incapable of learning. He, otoh, may have accepted and understood, or he may have needed the humbling first.
What was done to them was absolutely despicable. My is killing me right now is her conviction they can never be together because she will always be inadequate and lacking and will never be who and what he is looking for. Basically, she has been so conditioned to look down on herself, she cannot allow herself to trust him, to trust them, to believe there really could even be a them. Agony. She needs a friend like Kitty.
