Great start to your story! It's well written, flows nicely and has that nice bit of humour to make me laugh. I can't wait to read more!
Honestly, there is no certain length your chapter has to be. Personally I like to plan chapters by the events/plot rather than length. However, I do prefer reading chapters between 3500 to 10,000 words (if it's too short nothing much happened, and if too long then it can get boring at times), but that can vary depending on your writing style, or if you have heavy dialogue etc.
