for The Grim Herald

I love that after you did a few PSAs and called out the people who've been stealing fanfics from a bunch of authors or when you called out jackasses that some people have just been attacking you in the reviews or have just tried to make you look bad. All of your old readers abandoned you too. Must suck, eh? I've seen some reviews that just curse at you and then, some people have been leaving hate reviews without spending much time reading the story.

Regardless, there have been people who've left very agreeable reviews. To be honest, as the years have gone by, I think the Grim Herald could be improved ALOT. I mean A LOT. After reading "The Heroic Calamity" Reboot, I can tell that you could do a lot better by rewriting the story. I've also seen you mention that you would rewrite the entire story if you could. That's good because that means you've noticed the flaws in here too.

I get what you were trying to do by making Issei live up to his reputation. I mean, c'mon. The guy's gotta be overpowered if he's gotta be able to do his job. What are reader's supposed to expect? I noticed that you tried to counterbalance his fighting power by making him lose in other battles, like life. The guy's miserable, he's screwed up several times, and he's lost a lot of loved ones.

I think with how much you've grown now, you could definitely make an even better version of this story. Granted, I know that this website has Fake Bots and AI accounts ruining things by saying they're collabing with authors. I've seen it happen to other people too. So, I'd get it if you stopped writing on this site. People have also been stealing other fanfictions and monetizing them on YouTube, which I've seen happen to your stories when I was browsing.

With all that being said, I wish you the best of luck, sir. I hope you can keep growing.

Its starting to run better. Most time you just need to switch where the /chapter# is. But even thats gotten better. Please dont leave fanfiction

I'm not even half way through the first chapter and I'm done. When will fanfic writers learn about "show, don't tell"? Instead of writing a 10 page shopping list about the main character, give the readers just enough so that we can actually care and wonder about him, about what was his past and so on. Slowly unveil each layer, throughout events or other characters finding out his secrets or something. Have you read, I don't know, Harry Potter or any other actual serious piece of writing ever? Could you imagine if in the first two pages of Philosopher's Stone J.K Rowling talked about how Harry's parents died, how Voldemort is planning on coming back and how the Wizarding World is? You had such an amazing opportunity here, you could make a love interest be curious and investigate or ask him about his life, maybe even a potential enemy could look into his past and find out some crazy thing about him.

excuse me, there seems to be a whole fucking lot of story missing between chapter 52 and 53, why does 52 end with artemis crying over issei and 53 start with him having already returned? And for a while, too! :<

Man, I miss the older chapters where they all had debilitating grief. I’m an absolute sucker for that kind of thing.

Yes, that's indeed growth there, though what causes such topics to be so confusing is the fact in this context? Author and readers alike influence it, and the latter is very different than if only one reader was involved as is often the case for a beta reader.

This story and Heroic Calamity are ample comparisons too.

While I can't remember the original version of these chapters word for word, I do recall a general idea of what happened and in my opinion? The new one works better since you gave both chapters a new sense of tension the originals lacked, which in some sense felt rushed and likely contributed to the whole bad timeline misunderstanding. In such a context, the old was "not good" as you said, but mostly in the sense I agree with you on that. Some readers might say otherwise, however, and that's not necessarily wrong from their perspective.

Heroic Calamity's remake is more complex. Quality wise, I do think that the story is better, but when it comes to the original as of the narrative following the reveals tied to the past, I feel that was when the story became "not good" due to Adelaide making a divergence that strayed from the original being a single pairing story. Other readers might say that's "good", however, and that's where the one author and the many readers come into play.

Such opinions have an influence.

Many voices can help make an image, and if most readers had thought those things were good or bad? You'd likely agree with what they said, but they could also say otherwise after a newer version makes them realize this was better or worse, and that's always going to be something that may only be made clear after the fact.

From my perspective, the changes to GH are good and HC's are good up to Adelaide making them not so good. That's just me, so I can't speak for you or the many readers, only share my opinion about like how my opinion on a rewrite is that it's risky. Some people who liked the original HC may not like Adelaide's inclusion for being too different, and some may like how you had GH change Ch 52 as a result of the dark timeline chapters and the misunderstanding related to it.

In the end, this is what you wrote and what you can decide to change or not.

You can only accept the last that was what you wrote already, the present that's the choices you're deciding on making next, and the future of what you did choose. Just make sure you do your best to not regret those choices and make the story you want to write.

This may only be one of many instances where you'll grow, and where that growth takes you is a choice you just make alone.

Dropping this out of nowhere years later, focing me to re-read the entire story cause I barely remember it.

what a 4D check you've put me in. I tip my hat to you, sir.

great to see you're back however!

And the legend finally returns! Good to have you back man.

I admit that I got tired of waiting for an update so I just re-read the story from time-to-time and just come up with my own ending for this story. But now that you're back, I am instantly re-energized to wait for updates to this story again, especially from the author himself.

As a reader, I just wanna say thank you for keeping your word. I really look forward to the future chapters you have for this story as it reaches its' conclusion. This and 'The Heroic Calamity' are both what I consider two of the best fanfics in DxD. Those two are what I come back reading the most when revisiting fanfics.

That's all I have to say for now, but again, I look forward to see how this story ends. Keep up the good work AzureStoryTeller!
