I get this Unseen is canon, I also get canon really doesn't have a counter balance to them or worse, too bad this didn't fix it.
Besides there extreme speed and normal vampire abilities dialed to 11 or 15 there is no canon indication they cannot die. Considering they had wars, with demons and others, it is safe to say they can die.
Now we have a powerful mage, with fiendfyre and other, possibly worse, abilities, can turn into a dragon but an unseen elder is too much for him.
Also, Harry trained Marri, physical skills, stealth and such... and he got hit with a stick from behind.

Whelp. novel was kind of ruined for me, somewhat, not all the way.
End of last chapter and ONE paragraph here was an obvious plot nerf if I ever seen one. Struggling against a mage much much younger than him, gets taken down but one hit... then tortured just for enough time for the rest of the plot to happen, he has the "Excuse" of not being around.
It was so obvious it felt bad reading.
The main issue is, it happened once it can and likely will happen again.
MC was only hyped to be this powerful, immortal mage\wizard, until he needs to be weaker.

So a normal mage can match one that lived for a few hundred years, guess the OP thing was... to much for this scene, needed Harry to hibernate for a few more years did you? Sad plot tool.

alright.. I think I am done with this story. I came here expecting Harry following Ciri back to witcher world, or even meeting the older version of Ciri he met in his childhood, not him waiting over 100 years for Ciri that wouldn't be HIS Ciri to be born and groom her...
