How is he still standing up?

Man that was awesome, I was not expecting that ending at all and will you have plans to ressurect uncle in the future? Also I hope I'm not overstepping here but I know that you have jade and irma getting together but maybe when you introduce el taro and paco, have pack maybe transformed into bull shapeshifter and jade him and irma start being attracted to each other?

Starting off want to extend my best well wishes for you and your health, and really hope that your doing better as well as keeping healthy and safe on your end. :)

Secondly not sure if it's ironic or not that this was put up the day before my birthday but only now have the chance to review.

That said on this chapter can I just say MIND BLOWN! I mean you cut straight to the heart with perhaps the biggest twist since the full scope of the Dark Hand reveal with the biggest character death to date.

I mean this story is no stranger to death but do believe and correct me if i'm wrong but this might be the first major character death from either series, and somethings that once again shows once and for all not only how much the original fates and destiny of those from the original JCA universe have changed, but that even heroes aren't immune to tragedy.

A moment of silence to mr aiyah himself one of the greatest mystic figures and mentor figures of all time in Uncle, he will truly be missed.

But seriously once again did not see this twist coming I mean I figured Phobos wasn't quite down and out just yet, but I was thinking we'd see Uncle have to adjust to having just one arm in the aftermath but Phobos the craziest but most underestimated of the villains making the killing blow and hurting the Chans, Guardians more than any other enemy whether Shendu, Dark Hand, or Tarakudo is a brilliant tragic touch.

It also serve as a sober lesson and reminder for the heroes in the future not to underesitmate their enemies even more.

Though Uncle might be gone his legacy will live on in his friends, family, and students. But will admit curious if we've truly seen the last of Uncle even though he's dead, and I don't just mean impacts from his legacy or flashbacks.

But well Uncle himself after we know from canon that necromancy isn't exactly impossible as exampled by Nerissa work with a certain friend and believe love.

One thing I can't help but wonder about is the potential impact Uncles death will have. Emotionally this will hit all of them very badly especially Jackie after all he cares deeply for those closed to him, and just like when captain Black was put into intensive care by Valmont we might again see the depths of his rage but even greater.

And he won't be the only one since others like Tohru might not be far behind, after all Uncle was his mentor and the man who truly gave him the chance to become more than just the hired muscle, who saw something in him and made him his apprentice.

But further into the aftermath I can only wonder how they handle his death I mean they've become no strangers to death, but this one will hit closer to home for them after all Uncle became someone dear to all of them.

One can only wonder at how his death might impact them both positive like becoming more determined to protect others, but also negative and affecting or changing them for the worst. I mean on the latter Jade does seem on a bit of slipperly slope lately to me, and this kinda of thing will not help her at all.

Plus there's also the strategic angle to consider after all Uncle brought quite a lot to the table in knowledge, experience, and skill something that would have been a great deal of help against the other threats still out there and scheming in the shadows.

Such as the Dark Hand, Dragon, Tarakudo, the Ludmoores, potentially Nimue though she's a bit of a wildcard, Nerissa, and who knows who the heck else. They've not only lost a beloved person in their lives but a powerful asset as well.

Hmm speaking of enemies wonder if we'll see any reaction or care toward Uncles death. I mean many of them likely won't care with some exceptions, and don't mean Nerissa since considering how far she's gone she's not likely to mourn.

But could see Harold mainly concerned with how this might affect his daughter considering this is the first death of someone that was close to her. Though question is if he'll respond as a father or a leader of the Dark Hand with agenda?

I can't help but see Tarakudo actually mourn the loss of a worthy enemy and chance to face him further on the battlefield, and in a twisted way perhaps happy that Uncle died in glory on the battlefield.

Heck for some reason I can't help but actually see Tarakudo paying his respects without causing any trouble during or after Uncles funeral.

On another reaction I can't help but picture Ikazuki being enraged since he will be robbed of a chance at facing the cunning elder again in battle but with his true form and might.

At least those are might thoughts on Uncles alone, seriously looking forward to what impact and affect it will have on the course of the story.

Now on the rest of the chapter brilliant and epic! Starting off that flashback with Phobos birth was a great start to the chapter, and I think any father would feel for Zanden.

Also this flashback you really get a feel for Elyon and Phobos parents at least a bit, showing that while they weren't perfect by any means and might have had beliefs that affected others negatively here and there, as has been told in the story here and there. They themselves weren't exactly evil or terrible people just people with the burden of leadership.

Also what happen with Phobos birth and near brush with death with that fanatic, it makes me wonder if Phobos himself isn't completely to blame for becoming the deranged sociopath he is today.

A sort of nature for nurture situation hits me here I mean Phobos parents loved him, but if that incident at his birth was any inclination even as prince of Meridian he might not have had it easy growing up condemned and viewed as a bad omen or much worst.

Elyon birth and him losing any chance at the throne was likely the straw that broke everything, heck could also see Phobos of than viewing it as a betrayal of his parents and them confirming the peoples negative views of him. I mean chances are he was a bit paranoid even back than, and hard not to be since that assassination attempt at his birth might not have been the last.

So yeah that incident makes you how much of Phobos today is because of his own choices and how much is because of what he experienced growing up, as the meridian people turned him into a self fulfilling prophecy.

Well the meridian people and possibly Nerissa though do wonder if that was her at Phobos birth or the real mage before her death, a mystery for another time or something that will remain a mystery.

But I should probalby wrap this review up. Getting back on track I LOVED all the action and Phobos newly created army was a great show of power and also really speaks true to his style with their creation.

After all he's got a green twisted thumb and a ego to match so they really scream Phobos, not to mention give any enemies that survive them nightmares for a time. Frankly it's not a surprise that Frost booked it though slightly surprised it didn't happen sooner, and not sure but think that might have bit actually regret toward Lothar. But might have been reading too much into it.

Speaking of Lothar despite turning against Phobos and betraying his vows I think Raythor might actually have been proud of the courage and honor Lothar showed to the end, though whether his tale ends today or he lives another day is up in the air.

But even if he lives unless he gets something like Nerissa arm to replace his leg he's not likely to rejoin the battlefield. Though could be wrong there their might be other ways, hmm admit part of me wonders how well the horse talisman would work on lost limbs. But eh that's not a likely scenario to happen, but who knows.

On a next bit one great piece was at last Drake/Cyrus showing his shapshifter form and it seems he really takes after his big brother both in type and species. Admit was curious if the Ludmoore siblings would be different types among the three categories or not, but seems that's not quite the case.

Though there's still the last and third brother but not sure if he's got another form or not, though he might have it as a ace who knows.

Anyway just from appearance alone of his form think many could connect dots to this mysterious shap shifter having ties with Cedric, and if word/rumors of it on the battlefield get out we might see some investigating it whether rebellion members, guardians, or nerissa.

Though that's if they get the chance since from the sounds of it the Ludmoores plans are really on the verge of truly kicking off and that's just trouble for quite a view.

Of course this is all future problems right now they need to focus on the present problems in the form of the deranged god complex prince who's killed one of them already and is determined to do the same to the rest.

I am on the very edge of my seat and can't wait to see what happens next, it's sure to be awesome!

Though Phobos and his newly created army might not be the only problem since Caleb has fallen to his blades power, and might now be a major threat to friend and foe alike. Geez today is proving to be a absolutely nightmare, and can only hope the others will be able to walk away from this.

Anyway start to finish wonderful work as always and look forward to what happens next. Till than hope you keep yourself safe and healthy, and again wish you the best.

Welcome back, it is excellent chapter and don't worry about delay. I am sorry to hear about hospital stay and hope that you made full recovery. I cached COVID-19 in February but it was very mild for me, simple stay at home and that's it.

Flashback about Phobos birth were very good. I was him being first boy something you come up with or canon? Talk about him being bad omen may seem true in hindsight but I am more inclined toward self-fulfilling prophecy. He was scorned by church and peasants while nobility was quiet only because they prefer not to touch this hornet nest. Weira wanting to make him ruler and pass heart only worsen problem because he saw Elyon birth as his sister stealing what was his. Still I think that under circumstances more or less unachievable (because of people scorn) he could grow up to be supportive and protective big brother.

Also was this real Mage? It is long enough that I would believe so but I am not sure.

It didn't took Phobos long to get drunk with his power. I assume that he didn't blast Roberta (whose loyalty he acknowledge) only because she would make to weak test of new power. Very nice idea with such army it is very fitting. Them having his face speak of vanity (but he has nothing on Archon Vhane Kyharc who unleashed virus that give everything alive on planet his face). Them having no skills and relying on physical might and numbers reflect well prince inexperience in non magical combat. Jackie observations about them makes me wonder will there will be some survivor that will develop into individual.

New army fighting against guards will somewhat smooth thing up during negotiations. Rebels at this point understand that Phobos is true enemy and his "supporters" aren't necessary his sympathizers. Guards evacuating population and helping to fight will somewhat smoothen relations.

I really like how you are emphasizing Elyon shame and guilt. I also like her acknowledging that for all lies her parents told her she now understand without doubt that love was never one of them.

Blunk may not be fighter but he is brave and useful. (I really laugh that Jade use him as a smell location beacon)

I always saw Tristan as his own side. He wanted vengeance on rebels and Phobos give him plenty of opportunity so he worked for him but there was never much love for prince. Even now he isn't on heroes side he is on princess side and they goal are simply overlap. I definitely like that he don't want to have anything to do with Julian. His devotion to Elyon is well shown and I imagine that he will be in her court (it will probably be drawn upon because of Phobos and Cedric analogy). He will also be useful as bodyguard on earth because he is both strong and inconspicuous. I have feeling that he may become Elyon boyfriend at some point(I don't think that she have canon love interest).

Viper finding loophole weakness was nice but I will wait with congratulation until speculation will turn to be true.

Ludmoores are showing great concern about current situation and are willing to take risks to resolve it. I have respect for their skills because even if Phobos victory would be unfavorable they are elastic enough to continue with plan. Cyrus change into his (beast form/true form/animal form?) I like how it was emphasized that it is big risk for plan. I wonder if wanting to help friends was factor in deciding if it was necessary. About his look, if he wasn't Cedric relative I would call it leazy but he is and have enough distinctive difference to fit well as brothers.

Guardians fight against prince was also very good. I really like Irma reaction to villain speech, birds of a feather with Jade definitely. I like how you showed fighting style of both sides. Phobos was megalomaniac that while skilled in magic wasn't focusing on most effective tactic instead playing with his opponents (really good creativity on his(and your) part) while girls were much more tactical and clever. I love How Will faked helplessness to bait him and unleash beat down. Power of god but body of a human the one that never was in fist fight. It was very satisfying. Meteor was great scene for prince to use compassion against his opponent and girls nice tactic to stop it.

Roberta was knocked out by Nerissa (future knight of vengeance applicant?) but I am surprised that she is less concern than I expected about her plan not going well.

Jade role in chapter wasn't very big but she is showing herself from good side, especially with how she swap between abilities to most favorable solution. That's why I think that at some point she will be stronger Shapeshifter because she have other option.

Situation was so bad that Caleb did not show proper motion and succumbed to sword. It is bad especially because characters that knew this aren't able to stop him physically but they are close to him so maybe they will be able to make him snap out of this. I am also surprised that sword worked so well against plant people I was under impression that it work using blood of victim as curse medium and they have none.

Great scene with defiance after defeat. At first wondering about risking life for things that aren't their problem and fast understanding that if it will not be handle now it will become their problem later and then it will be too late for regret. Jade screaming alerted prince of her attack but also distracted him to not kill girls so in her book it was good choice.

Killing major character should be done with utmost care. It should be done in way that makes you feel that they had proper and respectful send off. I feel that it was done in Uncle case. Not only he was badass literally making god bleed but also has good connection to narrative you created for him. "No more dead girls." This one short sentence carry so much weight, story and determination. It perfectly justify why he did.

I feel that Uncle death will be for girls like Torus Filney was for Caleb. They were aware of war brutality but never lose anyone they knew.

Another thing that come to my mind is that Phobos will die here. Now all bets are off either lethal force without mercy will be employ or he will be killed on spot after being depowered. I remember what Jade did with Alistar Tharquin and doubt that she will be more merciful here or somebody will be willing to stop her. What's more I can't stop thinking about spilled blood. Blood magic is Jade specialty and we saw that prince body is still vulnerable. I doubt that he could survive his heart exploding from internal pressure or something like that.

Overall great chapter.

Poor Uncle. (

I guess they need to shove Phobos through a portal and Gank him in a different plane then?

This really showed that Phobos shouldn't be underestimated, and I can't wait to see what happens next. One thing that really annoyed me in the comics was that the Veil was made because of him yet we don't see him do anything especially powerful, so I'm glad here he was able to show what he could do, given the power. I'd love to know what loophole he used to steal Elyon's power. It didn't make sense to me how he could do that in the comics and cartoon when Hearts can't be taken.

First of all, glad to hear you're okay. Secondly, you're welcome for all the work I've put into the Tropes page; this story deserves the attention.

As for this chapter itself... wow. I anticipated all the epic action of a seasonal climax, but that last scene... I did not expect you to actually kill anyone off, least of all Uncle. And on top of that, there's also the matter of what happened to Caleb.

So, a lot of excitement towards seeing how you wrap this all up.

Keep up the good work.

Zim'sMostLoyalServant signing off.

As usual, this was an excellent chapter but I am not sure if the Nobles really surrendered that easily.

Finally got the chance to check out the latest chapter, and can only apologize for the late review.

But despite that want to say absolutely LOVE IT! Seriously kicking off the end game to season 1 is proving epic with so much really brutal action, just loved every bit of the blood rushing fighting.

That ultimately ended in them forcing the Archduchess and the enemy army to concede to their terms, after a excellent strategy of deception.

Though get the feeling that this and along with that threat Jade layed on the table during the "negotiations" won't be forgotten, nor the past. As the Archduchess doesn't strike me as a person to forgive or forget, so while the Blade of Meridian has agree for a better future for Meridian.

I can't help but get the feeling that it's potentially possible that she could still be a deadly threat or problem for them down the road.

On another factor of the this wonderful conflict can't help but wonder if we'll see consequences to Caleb once again using the Sword of the Berserker if he really did wield it again.

Now outside the conflict we come to a major favorite part of mine where we at last see Julian and Tristain confront each other, and it was played so well in my opinion.

As Julian starts to face his sins from the past and Tristain once again faces the man who saved him but in reality is the reason for all his pain and loss in the first place. I won't lie a large part of me thought he was going to kill Julian or try to at least.

But Jackie steps up to the plate once again and his words hit home with the Scorpian letting the rebel go. I really enjoyed everything Jackie said and it's true vengeance is quite a slippery slope indeed.

Though question is what will Tristain do now after all vengeance is what motivated and driven him for so long, it makes you wonder what he will do without it.

Finally last but not least we see the blinds come off as Elyon realizes the truth about Phobos, and man is she pissed! Not that I blame her and she really lets her brother have it trying to fry him, but sadly things don't work out there.

As Phobos manages to not only get the upper hand but it seems unlike canon it looks like he has successfully taken Elyon power and the heart of meridian from his sister. Bad day, very, very, very bad day.

That kinda of power which he's already drunk off declaring himself a God, which is always a bad sign to say the least. But yeah that kinda of power in a sadistic crazy Phobos hands, this won't end well at all.

But yeah start from finish another awesome chapter, and as always I look forward to reading more of your work. :)

Can't wait for the big fight!

This was awesome! And again, the worldbuilding in general with the nobles is awesome. I've always wondered what would happen if Phobos drained Elyon's powers, and I can't wait to find out. I really want to know your opinion on Metamoor's size, do you think it's a very small planet? Because it doesn't make sense how one person could rule a whole planet.
10/22/2020 c31 1W8W
Great chapter.

It is good that Jade doubt in herself. Conviction of own righteousness was big factor in Nerissa downfall. Similarly Will feel weight of her actions and regret that she can’t find any better way. I am really impressed with plan.

Playing cards with astral drops is funny.

When it was mentioned that map was made with help of snake I at first thought that they meant talisman (and was confused about this), only after a moment I have remembered about Cedric. Part about Uncle being quiet was funny but I believe that he can, simply choose not to. So at the moment Jade have horse talisman, in a way it make her able to rival reptilian shapeshifters specialty.

Nerissa and Julian talk was very emotional I believe that she was completely honest with everything she told here. Great scene, nicely show that she really love him even if he is piece in her plan.

It real shame that battle happen because everybody wants the same thing dethrone Phobos and give crown to Elyon. Even Servantis started to notice that he wasn't very effective in achieving his ultimate goal.

Once again you did excellent work showing ugly side of war. You also did great job showing how different people cope with it. Moment that it was announced that Cornelia and Irma were delegated to countering cavalry I immediately thought about mud.

Ludmoore have fan but getting taste for battle may be his undoing in future because he will be less careful. His attempt to create Dark Chi Warrior nicely show difference(in skills) between him and Wong. I wonder if he will figure it out in future, I can think about some "normal" characters that would join his side but need some power up to be reasonable threat(for example Frost).

Elion finally caught her brother on lie (Prince now knew that his top shapeshifters have betrayed him, I wonder if it will be relevant in future.) and it show how important is putting as much truth as possible into fake story because one detail may make everything crumble. She made some mistakes but as a kid from earth without any experience(wonder how it would go if she was more like Jade) I can give her some slack. Fighting her brother was not best option even with enormous difference in power. I think that best move would be to run away and look for friends. Unfortunately because of her lack of experience she lost heart power to her brother (I doubt that Nerissa had this in plans.). It create very interesting and tense situation for final especially because Guardians don't have access to full power.

Archduchess performance in battle look unreal but not much reason to complain. She was as arrogant like other nobles do girls outsmarting her was really satisfying(also Jade could neutralize her whenever she wanted so she never had chance to kill them). Her bust that nothing can surprise her was just asking for trouble. Really nice demonstration of firearms power.

You also nicely showed nobles ego. In their eyes only they have ability and dare I say right, to make things right. It is good that they were taken down a notch. Also Elion rules may be cold shower for them because this girl didn't grow up in society that have classes assigned by birth. It is very likely that for her arguments like "He is peasant" or "I am noble" will be empty words. Blood leash was cruel but I can see necessity of its demonstration especially with it being bluff. I would say that it was true for whole plan. Brutal and bloody (scene with wounded makes it obvious) but it was best possible option. I understand that they are angry(and not well informed) but what's crimes Caleb have committed. Most of this were standard war activity. Worst he did was misjudging people and not notice their faults. If this is crime than nobles should be skinned alive for putting Phobos on the throne (I assume that it is setup for plot in season 2, making people from different sides work together).

I love scene with Tristan. I suspected that he will change sides because he never had loyalty to Phobos only hate for rebels (Elion in danger seemed like excellent catalyst). I don't know what is better Jackie making excellent speech with good arguments or Tristan strength of character to forsake vengeance. I don't think that he did something atrocious thru whole story (he killed rebels but it is war) so he may have reasonable chance to end in Elion inner circle. It on itself may cause uproar because he is shapeshifter and may remind people to much of Phobos and Cedric. It is only a hunch but he may even become romantically involved with princes/queen(I don't know comics but she didn't have significant other in show). He definitely would have lots of potential as a bodyguard when Elion return to earth (I am rather sure that this plotline will happen in some way). Powerful and completely inconspicuous because he won't carry anything suggesting weapon/warrior. It would also be funny to have another visitor from Meridian blend in.

Shendu words are very wise and can be connected with lots of characters. Assuming how opponent will act isn't bad thing as long as you only treat it as a possibility and attempt to be able to adjust to other behavior.

While I await next chapter with excitement, take your time I much prefer story to be good than fast updates (rushed).
