I hate to say this but...Amelia kind of deserved this.
She was stupid enough to want the ball and be so trusting. Of course Voldy was going to try something.

That chapter actually made me chuckle.
Did Harry Potter, the boy who lived, head of three different houses and the one prophesied to defeat Voldemort said that he was "nothing special" ? That just silly.
The best way to make something appear as poorly hidden bragging is false modesty.

...I get the feeling that the obliviate didn't quite stick.
Dumbledore's also probably forgetting that there were OTHER witnesses. And that Harry probably already had some sort of backup.
Some of the dialog feels 'off' to me, but I'm not sure how to put it into words. I think it's mostly Harry's, though. I'm not even talking about personality-wise. This is very obviously not canon Harry, so his reactions would be different. I guess it's specific wording/phrasing? Again, I'm not sure.

Everyone seems to hold Snape asking for Lily's life and not James' and Harry 's lives against him! Honestly think a bit! Harry was the target. No way could he ask for his life. It would have gotten him killed. James was his school enemy. Everyone knew it. Asking for his life was also impossible. The only one he could ask for was Lily. Even then he had to be careful. If it was known Severus loved her she would have been killed as an object lesson.

I understand that the ad guys win some too, but damn Harry has lost his parents, godfather, now Amelua who was one of hiz potential guardians. As a person don't know how much more one person can make it through and stay sane! Surely it would make one despondent, angry and spiteful and much more overtly protective of their remaining loved ones.
