Your writing isn't bad. If you feel something is off, what you could do is either get a beta or write - write as much as possible, not just one chapter but a few - and then go over it and select what will be the chapter ends. Reread what you wrote - there could be additional scenes that you would like to put in. That's all I can write at the moment. I'll try to remember to come back and reread this to look at grammar, punctuation, etc.
