Holy friggin friholies I did NOT expect THAT. I somewhat suspected that Akari is alive, but NEVER have I ever suspected Masaru himself to know THAT... though, I should've known better, what with all the hints you've been dropping some chapters back *sigh*. Man, you're a really good author. Can't wait to see more of your work :D

Well, Akari being alive... Not surprising. Masaru knowing that she is alive, a bit more surprising. Rationally speaking, since you were alluding to "twin telepathy" quite a bit through the he latter part of the story it was clear that Masaru would be suspicious about it, but to outright know it... A bit unclear of what I should think about it.

In any case, based on how the story goes "if there is no irrefutable evidence of a person being dead... Then they aren't dead." XD So my speculations are this:

Obito, unfortunately, is still canon Obito, meaning he is orange, spiral mask Tobi/fake-Madara, as evidenced by his presence with Itachi. Sadly, he is still the bitter sourpuss that we all know by the end of the series.

Shisui, is the red-mask... And I think you might have made him have a thing for Torune... Or Tenzou... Or any of his ANBU allies. XD. But this is probably some convoluted plan that Masaru and Akari's mother came up with, probably something about getting Akari out of the village without Hiruzen knowing, obviously relates to Hinata leaving as well... And of course Karin is involved as well. Maybe she was in the future visions as well *shrug*.

Now the question that really remains is, did she know about the Obito/Madara/Zetsu/Yagura connection? If so, what contingencies do you have planned in story, if not... I anticipate the end game is going to be very messy. Not on your part, just simply because it gets really messy in the canon, and you can't simply avoid it without causing severe changes in the plot structure... Which you can really only do a little of without the story not working cohesively.

In any case, I don't expect you to answer that question outside of the context of the actual story. This is just a bit of my thought process of what is going on.

For instance, would Itachi have killed Masaru if Akari's death wasn't faked? I would be surprised if the answer was no. But, I digress...

i regret going to the comments after the first few chapters when i started reading Echoes of Light a few days ago but holy shit i was still surprised bc pf how it happend. Never would have that it was going to happen like that! Your story is so damn good!3
