This was ... oddly concise. Though the beginning made me scratch my head. It seemed as if it was starting in warcraft 2 beyond the dark portal. But you actually wanted it to be set after mists of pandaria (i think). Still a very good read.

Silence echoed around the room until Ruby stated "Just so long as I can have a combat skirt."
That line right there, cracked me up! Perfect cliffhanger in my opinion. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait for the Soul to awaken soon (hopefully). If it does, I hope it's when the Two Brothers are summoned, and in some way (or fashion) helps the Adventurers against them.

You know considering the Wizard of Oz theme I would've expected the Headmaster of Shade be Remnant's version of Dorthy.

I'm liking this quite a bit but one thing you got somewhat wrong is the part about the undead. They wouldn't die on remnant, or at least not for the stated reason.
The absence of a lich King doesn't kill the undead it just makes its so that there is no one to control them. Sentient undead get their free will back and non sentient undead start rampaging.
That is the reason why there must always be a lich King, because without one the undead still in the scourge would go feral and become an even bigger problem.
