Honestly I think the reason why the last chapter flopped was because it was short and kinda boring. Most of the good character interaction was at the end and then it just cut off.
Less to do with not having the MC and more to do with it was very gripping and when it caught your attention it ended. Which just made me (at least) right it off and hope to wait for the next one.

Its also entirely possible, and valid, to be through with romance. Many people find themselves uninterested in romance entirely at a certain point or after significant moments jn their life. This does not invalidate them or mean theyre controlled by their trauma, and certainly it doesnt mean theyre not “really living” just because of that.

Great chapter! Glad to see Brock willing to move on, and his moment with Klara was cute.

"consequences have actions"? and here I thought it was the otherr way around...
i forgot the salarian angle. not like he can say if he dies ad it isn't them that the information won't be released, since then they'd kill him and make it someone else's fault, this is about the best he can romise or the councillor could ask for.
as many problems as the salarians cause, in this story I wonder if empowering the salarian coucilor with some information he can use to keep the Dalatrasses behaving might be an option. not handing him everything of urse, but a few juicy bits on some problematic persons so he has more power to sway his government ino avoiding more hasty moves. Build a better relationship with the councillor, so his influence with the man isn't just the blackmail. after all, introducing a bit of honey to the situation will make further dealings easier. The councillor will feel more confidant that Brock won't casually hit the nuclear button if he believes he can be reasonable.
i still like the idea of Brock being a Spectre. honestly? he probably as ore than enough qualifications and proof to two of the three councillors hat he can see the big picture, and is in favor of the unity and stability of the Council races. He's done more than Shephard on the galactic stage by far, and his handling of the asteroids with the asari and thee secrets of the salarians, well I'd say his resume vastly outstripped hers long before she got the job. i thinkk he should get the authority, but get it was has to be the normal quiet way, since ME1 scene one established explicitly that it isn't normal or anybody to know who is a Spectre. nothing would change except him having quiet authority and backing in some of his endeavors. he makes for a good agent through which the council would gain quiet influence in the terminus systems for different purposes, he gets resources and access to build himself up more. and as a troll, maybe he can convince them to backdate his official induction to maybe half a ear or more before Shephard, so he can reveal it later and say something like "did you really think they announced the first Spectre of a race on galactic public television?", and when Anderson finds out, and by extension the Alliance learns the firsg uman spectre wasn't ever an Alliance soldier, they'll probably bitch a bit. And the Councilors know the SA will probably find out eventually, and they'll think it's a nice dose of humbling that the eal first human spectre wasn't one of theirs so they'll robably be all the more on board with backdating him. It's an excellent and ultimately harmless bit of trolling I think the Councillors would be tickled by.

nice chapter, but holy shit. again!? another ME story that goes with the fuckin Asari again?!
when tf is this trend gonna end? I'm sorry if this rant is outta nowhere, but when you read some decent ME stories but find out the love interest is either Miranda or Liara, you just wanna chuck a chair out of a window for the constant repetitive romantic choices different authors make in there stories.
fucking hell, if tali is to young, then go after her Aunt or something. hell! Liara's mother would've made for a better choice. Cause honestly to me, this shit is now Bland. the romance has literal no flavor for me.
a quarian, Tuarian, Hell! even a krogan would be better. but this choice is exhausting.
the story is good and i'll probably keep reading for the plot and fight scene's. but this choice just killed it for me.

I can imagine Ender reading that Krogan report and then slowly reaching for his crothc and then with a smug grin stating out loud: Huh.. they do feel bigger

If you don't mind suggesting a movie to review, can you do All Quiet on the Western Front? Maybe have the 1930 version in 1 chapter and the 2022 version in the next

The funniest thing that would have been set up for the critics that wrote about "The Return of the Jedi" would have been to tell them about legends canon and understanding that Ewoks are one of the apex predators on a planet that have 20 foot tall rhinos and 10 foot tall sapient giants.
Also, if anything, you made Liselle too old. Her father is a human...

If I remember correctly from the book, Liselle is actually even younger than Liara, in her late sixties or early seventies.
