I love Ben's thoughts, the panic as he started to realize that the island was even more worse than he thought. Yeah, the Isle of the Lost made me so upset about the situation. As children, parents are everything to you, the people you look up to and try to become. And even after trying and trying and doing your best- it's never enough

I agree that this movie was aimed at the wrong age demographic. It could delve into so many deep issues including self esteem, self harm, abuse, and poverty. I love the first chapter and hope you write more

Did you read the books? Because in the first book it was reviled that Carlos has kinda a scar on his foot(manly because of Mals boredom). And he never had a pillow or a blanket(until Evie found out and he gave it to him. Evie was the new girl after Malificent band her and her mother from the town and when she got back she lived near Carlos but she tought that in that house lived only a crazy woman and her 'pet'. It turns out that that pet was Carlos, he lived in a closet.

That poor boy needs a hug...

And you're right. Cruella wouldn't hesitate to beat her son.

I mean, did you see the way she moved her hands when she was chasing him to the Limo?

And the only way Ben actually can get to their secrets is by intruding and then confronting, but he has to do it the right way.

I am intrigued by your story. I’m interested in seeing where you take this. Also, I agree with you, about the likelihood that he had a less than ideal life with his mother. I mean Roger kind of summarized her for us in his song “If she doesn’t scare you, no evil thing will.” pretty telling lyric if you ask me.
To ramble further for just a moment, I noticed in the movie that the other 3 of the VKs were obviously intimidated by their parents, but it seemed to me Carlos was the only one who was genuinely terrified of his mom. I know this thought has influenced some of my own writing where Carlos is concerned.
Anyway enough rambling. Your story was very well written, and I’m not just saying that because it was about my favorite character. I am definitely looking forward to the next part of it. Keep up the good work!
