Sanji should never receive a fruit because then he couldn't swim in the all blue and catch fish. Which I've seen a few writers overlook by accident. But anyway, great story so far! Hopefully Lu will realize his fruit is on even terms with Ace's once he learns to control it. Also for fruit ideas.. tbh with how few strawhats there are and how many already have fruits.. the only one I could see getting one would be Usopp and it would have to somehow help his sniping. Like a zoan with good eyesight, perhaps a bird of some type. There's a mythical bird called the Thunderbird that would be interesting, or a Gryphon. They have good eyesight, can fly and could help him in close combat. If you choose to do that I could send you a few good pictures of a Gryphon/Thunderbird to base it off of. Anyway keep up the great writing!

Nice job! I only read the first chapter so far, but I dare say you're off to a good start with this story.
You are right, if there is nothing noteworthy outside of canon happening, there's no need to rehash the entire East Blue Arc if you don't want to. Narrating the few changes that do have some significance can just be told through flashbacks whenever the need arises, as you've done. Nice work! :)
Though I'm very sorry for Kuzan I also especially like that you've actually come up with a quite logical explanation as to how exactly Luffy came into possession of the Hie Hie no Mi instead of just interchanging canon Devil Fruits and/or letting them randomly and conveniently pop up.
That's often a problem with AUs; deviating from canon all too often also goes hand in hand with a disregard for the inherent "rules" of their fictional world. A storyverse as rich and diverse as that of One Piece leaves more than enough loopholes to integrate plot-ideas (the possibilities of Devil Fruits alone!). It's just my personal opinion, but I'm only willing to give so much suspension of disbelief before a story becomes ridiculous and implausible to me. But enough ranting. xD
As for Luffys Devil Fruit attacks, I'd suggest just using a number of the canon attacks Kuzan showed or at least deviations of them (apart from the "pheasant"-attacks, without Kuzan's epitaph to go with they make no sense for Luffy to have. You could just change them to fit Luffy though, of course. Gum Gums Red Hawk comes to mind). The OP Wiki has a nice overview of the Hie Hie no Mi and its uses. Since Luffy will have to train and get used to his new powers before he can use them effectively it would also give you a clear goal of what he's working towards both power and attack wise and us readers a better visual of what he's doing (thanks to both anime and manga).

Ice Senbon, mirrors etc like Haku from Naruto.
Maybe some attacks like Subzero?
He could use pure power like Esdeath from Akame ga Kill or Serafall from DxD.
Some attacks like Grey or Lyon from fairy tail are also possible.
Plenty of characters to base attacks from tbh.

Hmmm... Well Blackbeard won't be able to take in the Lightning Logia ability, apart from mixing simply mixing elements like that is a dangerous idea, Blackbeard is solid logia type (abstractly solid, but still), mixing that with an intangibility logia type is even worse than just mixing elements, he'd be a walking paradox, both solid and insubstantial. Nature would most likely remove him as an aberration.
I wonder if that's what started the whole 'you can only have 1 devil fruit' thing? People just ate opposing DF's and blew up. I could see basic Zoans mixing with both Logia and Paramecia. I wonder if that's how certain Mythical Zoans came to be? Someone eats a healing fire based fruit (based off of the 'fire cupping' thing from China, kinda weird but looked cool in the Karate Kid remake), then eats a generic bird Zoan and BOOM! New Mythological Zoan of the Phoenix.

I wonder how Luffy's lack of power early on and now Ice based logia ability will affect Bartolomeo's moveset? Since Ice is a solid element, he'll probably wind up with a LOT more of those 'Homage' moves of his.
