It was actually frustrating. A quick ranged option like a firearm would be useful in many situations. Not that he liked shooting people with a gun.
-I am quite certain Shirou is capable of tracing firearms. He and Archer projected much more complex objects than firearms(e.g. a top of the line electronic fishing reel in HA). UBW doesn't record modern weapons, but that does not stop him from tracing them. Then why haven't we seen Shirou and Archer go around running and gunning? Spiritual weight, mana efficiency and effectiveness. Guns aren't that useful against spiritual entities and DA, mystic codes, NPs and black keys are better suited for such foes. Firearms are not difficult to to acquire in a mundane battlefield, and we know he used them(Nameless is even shown to be quite the gun enthusiast). His bow can also outperform modern small arms Thanks to to his skill in archery and Reinforcement, he can loose arrows at a considerable rate without affecting the accuracy and effect on target.

Now that I think about it, Shirou would know about Alice in Wonderland since Alice is a heroic spirit in the form of nursery rhyme and exists in pan-human history.

Common FSN fanon. Shirou's projections don't disappear. Things created by gradation air are eroded by the world over time. But Shirou doesn't use gradation air, he uses tracing, which replicates an object down to its accumulated history. As far as the world is concerned, it's as real as the original thing. They only disappear when they are damaged to the point where they no longer match the image in his head or when he wills them to disappear.

I'm imagining Shirou being surrounded by his friends, who are confused at Gilgamesh's cocky attitude, only for Shirou to just utter one word.
