Loved this, I like the way you've handled the relationships but I always wish it was Joe and Nancy, poor Bess too, congrats on law school!

I love this! I always enjoy interludes like this, where there's no pressing emergency, just conversation and a chance to watch the characters interact with no pressure. You gave each character his or her own distinct, enjoyable "voice"- it was a pleasure to read, and I was actually disappointed when it ended.
Poor Bess's boyfriend trouble made me giggle, especially when you wrapped up all that digression about past cases with a simple, bewildered, "So...what you guys are saying is, Brett's married?"
I liked how much depth you conveyed as far as all the relationships were concerned: Joe and Vanessa's physical connection, the tension between Nancy and Frank, and even that moment of camaraderie between Vanessa and Ned. It's a short story, but you still gave us a sense of how they all relate to each other, what kind of history they have.
My poor little Nancy-and-Joe-shipping heart got all fluttery over Nancy and Joe "badassing it up." They complement each other so well, and I loved reading something that portrayed them as friends and equals!

Very cute. Joe made me laugh several times in the story (yeah, in Egypt, pretending to be MARRIED). I also enjoyed that Nancy was with Ned and Callie remained with Frank, though neither is happy about the Egypt reference! Haha. Vanessa was quite bubbly as well! Overall, very nicely done. Congrats on law school- that is a great accomplishment!

Awww, poor Bess. But at least she has a great set of friends who can point out this stuff to her. Such a fun, lighthearted piece. Especially love the interactions between Nancy and Joe in this one.
