I always suspected that Boothby was of the same species as Guinan from TNG...
Well conceptualised and executed. Boothby was always the master of the ‘gentle nudge’ and you highlighted that beautifully here. Let’s hope JC did finally really talk to one another.

This was very nicely written. Boothby's advice was perfectly on point, without telling Katheryn anything she didn't already know. I do hope that she and Chakotay will talk. It sounds like they certainly have a few things to work through, but that there might be a happy ending here.

I always thought Janeway would have wanted to visit Boothby after returning home and you provided the perfect visit. Quite plausible that he'd actually be an immortal being, as long as he's been there. He gave good advice, too, for her to seek out Chakotay, as I don't think his budding relationship with Seven would've lasted long after their return to Earth, anyway.
