I'm sad that people talked to you like that. You were young. Loved your stories. And wish you would write again as a adult.

Thank you for this story. I grew up in a military family and even though I never knew about what my father went through I know he must have had problems.
Mom told me he never talked about it until he got Alzheimer’s. Then he would say things about the wars- WW2 as a Marine and then drafted into the Korean War by the Army.
My brother- a Marine in Vietnam, had the nightmares and flashbacks- according to his wife. I have a picture of him that my dad took after he got back from Vietnam. I’ll never forget the “dead eyed” look on his face. He’s still, even in his 80’s not an “easy” man. I keep that picture handy and look at it often. I don’t want to ever forget that part of his life or stop appreciating him for what he went through. He is still, forever,
“Always a Marine”

I'm glad that you've written about PTDS and the alterations it may place on the person and the family. Helen having been able to tell Steph her own personal history of PTSD with Frank and what they did to overcome it helped a lot. True love was Steph walking step by step with Ranger as he worked through his PTSD. Lovely that he will ask Steph to marry him.

Great story. Any plans to continue to see how they went.
Glad he got the help he needed and she was there every step of the way.

I like the way you had her mother talk to her about the same experience. Good story

Great little short. True love means the good times and the bad. We don't get to only be there for one part, but it takes huge strength not to walk away during the rough times.
