I remember reading the first (two?) chapters of this while you were still writing it and didn't realize until I read back through this the 2nd & 3rd time that I remembered the story and had lost it.
Your story is brilliant and you weave in so many threads of Mileven fandom effortlessly that it is fun, fluffy and angsty at the same time. I think your El is one of the most believable and in a weird way kind of anticipates the parts of ST3 El that I like (not much of a fan of the Max Follower part of her but I do think that she really loves Mike and that wins in the end...) I especially like the 'watcher' characterization and the bluntness and that she bites back at Hop! I've also read more than a few fics where Karen finds out about everything and that too you have written incredibly well and it fits canon while expanding it in a believable way.
Did you ever follow the thread of Brenner being back in Hawkins and the new people at school? There too, I love the story line and wonder where you would take that idea. My fervent hope is that the Duffer's lean back into the creepy human monster storyline with Brenner in (if?) Season 4.

So, I'm bored and was re-reading this and just wanted to let you know that I miss this story, if you ever feel like updating...
No pressure, of course. Do your thing.

Great update! Always enjoy the realistic interactions among the characters. Also appreciate that the adults aren't the enemies here...there's something worse to fear.

Fucking awesome. Seriously this had me laughing out loud so many times I had to go upstairs to stop my parents questioning me. I mean god damn so many good lines: "Make us late tomorrow". Just brilliant. And in between so much fluff and softness and innuendos and quirks holy shit this is amazing. I love this fucking story, can't wait for more :)

In response to another review about anti-smoking sentiments being a 90's thing.
The kids in this story are seniors which would have been the 1988-89 academic year, so this is late 80's. There were anti-smoking campaigns going on at that time, particularly aimed at youth. If you search youtube, you can find numerous anti-smoking from the 80's aimed at kids and teenagers.
You were also starting to see public opinion on smoking shift in the late 80's. California (no surprise to anyone) was leading the charge on banning smoking in private workplaces, but there was a federal smoking ban for domestic flights of less than 2 hours in 1988. That's significant because it demonstrates that arguments about second hand smoke were starting to take hold.
Granted, a lot of the anti-smoking efforts didn't really pick up steam until the late 90's with the first major settlement in the big tobacco lawsuits that actually provided real funding for anti-smoking campaigns, but it would not have been anachronistic in the late 80's.

the concern about smoking and meat consumption is anachronistic. public backlash against smoking was a 90s thing. it was still cool in the 80s.

My laptop is on the fritz too, mate. Cheers.
Hopper had better not get himself killed by the end of this. I feel like it's leading up to him making the sacrifice play.
Also, I can't decide if I want future twenty-something Steve to have a beard or not...

I just read Chapters 9 through 11, and through the laughing and crying and sjust General softness I wonder how on Earth did I overlook this. Seriously, this is some of the best Mileven I have ever read, interactions all perfection. The story itself is complex enough toboth interesting and valid, andyour writing style and dialogue Is amaazing. I can't wait to see Karens reactions (and the assumed Mileven resilience through it all).

I still like where it's all heading. I can feel the tension and the conflicted feelings El has about Brenner.
Bittersweet angst is what fanfics are for, just as long as it all works out in the end.
I'm REALLY ready for Karen to find out everything. I want to know her reactions so bad!
Beautifully and realistically written. Next chapter is the eleventh...lucky number...
Riggs out.
