About Garp, he was a hero, but not a good grandpa. There were also the "Firsts of Love", and Garp would indeed treat his grandkids far better if they were Marines, despite knowing the corruption of the government and loathing the Celestial Dragons and Akainu. Proof? He actually treats honest Marines like Coby well, but did punch Marco for trying to save Ace.
