Wow, I knew Honda and Jonouchi were jerks towards Yugi, but just wow. Makes me wonder what Yami would've had in mind for their Penalty Game IF they didn't changed their tune by the time Yugi had completed the Millennium Puzzle?
Hmmm, that makes for an interesting AU with a Fem Yugi story. What if, Jonouchi hadn't given back the missing piece of the Puzzle, and Yugi had found it on her own. And what if Ushio hadn't beaten them up as a way to get "protection" money, but someone else who'd been giving Yugi crap? The two boys' encounter with Yami wouldn't be very pleasant when he came after them for their Penalty Game after he dealt with the larger threat.
Whoops sorry about that, I always wondered how things would've have been like if Honda and Jonouchi hadn't become friends with Yugi BEFORE she completed the Puzzle.
This is really well done! I'm looking forward to reading more of this as it progresses.

Getting closer to the start of Duel Monsters' episodes, I see. Creepy Shop Owner is super creepy, and the way he was eyeing Yugi's Millennium Puzzle and how uncomfortable he made her feel was unsettling. Seems that he knows a little more than he should... Especially since he was able to have a duel take place within the depths of the Shadow Realm!
And they meet, somewhat, in the Shadow Realm. I really enjoyed the interactions between Yami and Yugi; especially since its technically the first time she saw Yami after those Penalty Games, and sleeping spells.
Please continue! I want to see what happens next, and if Yami will be able to win his duel in the Shadow Realm against Mr. Creeper. Along with any more changes that you have in mind.
P.S. Sorry but I can't help you with the Duel scenes. You may have to wing it on that.

This is very interesting. I thought that Anzu was already Yugi's friend, but I guess I was wrong. I take it, that this is one of the twists you mentioned in the summary, then?
Poor Yami. He isn't at full strength yet to defend Yugi from those who'd hurt her.

While I am not very fond of what came after Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, its' been literally years since I watched or read the manga. You know, I've always wondered: just how differently Yu-Gi-Oh! would've been like if Yugi was a girl? What would change? Along with other questions like that. I have to say I am really loving what I read so far!
I really liked how Yami and Yugi were forming a mental bond, as she was working on putting the Millennium Puzzle pieces together. Perfect!
Right off the bat, I noticed elements from the manga/Season 0 as well as some things out of the earlier Duel Monsters episodes. And I cannot wait to see how things work out for Yugi and Atem/Yami (as well as they're eventually meeting with each other, face-to-face); hopefully they'll get a happy ending. Looking forward to see what's to come, and Ushio's penalty game!

I just managed to find this story, thank god I did.
Your take on Yu-Gi-Oh is fresh, you combined some scenes of Season 0 with the actual show which im glad for - most people just do either a Season 0 inspired story or the other.
No character so far seems OOC, you nailed everyone on point so far(especially your Jounouchi, Kaiba and Yugi/Yami).
At first I was concerned that your F!Yugi would accept everything immediatly that is now slowly revealed to her and be fine with it(like Yugi was in the actual series) but your take on it is much more realistic i think, her fear and uncertainty about the Puzzle and everything involved around it is the same reaction most of us would have in her position, so thats a big plus!
As for your Duels, id be willing to help you out if you have some questions/Beta for you - since most writers however are "uncertain" how to create good duels you can also create your own made up cards/rules - like DSOD did with "dimension summoning".
This story has a lot of potential and im really curious as to find out who this "Creepy Shopguy" is.
Btw, if you ever feel like you need it break - take it, most good storys on died because the writer burned out fast, take your time - well wait.

You won't believe how excited I was to see that you'd updated! And to find out the chapter was so long, too! I really like the dynamic between the gang you've set up and how everyone interacts. Kaiba was great. Isn't Katsuya Jou's first name, though? It would be pretty weird for Kaiba to call him that. Unless that's what he does in the sub? Anyways, I thought the duelinf was easy to understand and entertaining to read, so I thimk you're doing a good job of writing it so far. I just really love how you're tweaking the plot, although I was expecting the burger world fiasco to happen before Yugi found out about Yami. Yugi's fears about how Yami was affecting her emotions was really interesting, too. I can hardly wait for the next chapter!
